  • Searching For Bank Notes

I have been given a task... but i do not know if I'm the right person for it,
I have a metal detector alright but the thing i have been asked to find is a bundle of banknotes buried somewhere in a field.
I have done quite a bit of research into it but have had no luck yet, the notes are from 1984 so they did have metal stip's in them but are they going to be enough to detect.
The bundle is about 4 thousand in ten pound notes and one thousand in five pound notes.
Will the amount of notes bundled together in the same order and in a pile be enough to detect it?
Sorry they were placed in a canvas bag before being buried so no other metallic objects that i know of.

find one of those 1984 bills with the metal stip`s and move it in front of your detector.
I think there will be no respond from the detector. if one bill doesn`t sound thousands will not sound either i think.

burried in a canvas bag could be also a problem in time

    plow the field maybe ?

    ciao

You could try mapping the area with an earth resistivity meter. The bundle may show up as an anomaly.

Banknote threads are extremely thin, so give virtually no respose to a conventional metal detector. It would be hard to detect one from 5mm away. Might the canvas bag have a zip-fastener, rivets or other metal in it? You may be able to find that.

I assume they were buried 20-25 yrs ago? You best (only?) chance is to use a Geo-logger with a TF900 in cave mode and map the whole area. Hopefully, the dig spot(s) will show up.

I don't think that he will detect the cave.
Money is 6 packets of 100 notes, low volume for a long trench.

              Regards

Run the audio into an ADC; capture the ADC data into a buffer memory; process data and plot in Snuffler. The devil is in the details.

Hey, i have had a look at the snuffler program and it looks cool,....bbuuuutttt, i am very simple sometimes and don't know how to make up this,
                      http://www.wessexarch.co.uk/system/f...om-373x437.jpg
Attaching it and the program it's self will be fine with but i cant for the life of me think how to build this H framed searching device, And can you leave out the ADC capture device and just use a program on your laptop?
Money is the issue and i aint got much of it.
