  • Pulsemate 14"x18" coil for Minelab GPX detector

Hi guys! Today I decided to test out on the beach Pulsemate coil which bought from eBay a week ago so when I turned on my GPX4500 it remained silent. After cycling the power it started, then the detector worked for short time and finally went silent again. Well, it shows "coil over current" on the display. Tested the detector out with different mono coils after the Pulsmate and it works just fine. Do you have any ideas? Your help will be appreciated!

    Hi,
Could be a short in the connector. The systems shutting the detector down because of too higher current demands. My machine did it sometimes with a Coiltek coil if I booted the machine while the coil was sitting on very hot ground. I had to hold it in the air and then lower to the ground and ground balance.

If your beach is covered in black sand a similar thing could be happening, does it work inland OK? Alternatively, they may have tried to make the coil too hot by upping the current. I found Sharp was the worst with the Coiltek coil as this timing ups the current anyway.

    Cheers
    Kev.

Hi Kev,you were absolutely right! Thank you very much! It happened to be short in the connector poorly insulated. Well it is o.k. now and I will keep on testing it out! It seems to be interesting to give it a try for hunting deep relics or cash! God bless!

        Great news mate!
keep us informed on how it goes for you.
Have you tried reducing the stabilizer to ignore small bits of crud on the beach?

        Cheers
        Kev.
