  • Measured inductance on DIY surf PI coil

    Hi all
been trying to go through my old notes
been trying to find the measured inductance of DIY
coil for ORIGINAL surf PI, I know its in one of the threads but cannot locate the right thread

The specs for the DIY coil seem to be 20 turns, 9 inch or 23cm dia, .5mm wire or #24 awg
any body made a coil to those specs and measured the inductance ?

    was it around 230uH ???

    thanks 6666

    try this
    http://deepfriedneon.com/tesla_frame6.html

    use point instead of comma

the coil should have 300 microHenry +/- 50
my coil a made of 0,5 or 0,6 mm lackered copper wire 23cm diameter in range of 18-24 turns - works all

donĀ“t hit me if i say to much wrong

      Thanks for the link
I wound up a coil today, 20 turns, 9 inch or 23cm dia, .5mm wire or #24 awg

and tried it on my brand new LCR meter
and it measures 230uH on the meter

Has anybody else done a real life measurement on this coil for surf pi

I have worked out how to use this and will try making one

See my "Surfmaster PI Pro coax bad" thread. I measured the real-deal surf pi and the pi pro. I know the pi coil is good. The pro coil was water damaged but seemed to measure inductance within reason - I think it just has too high capacitance. Hope to find out this weekend.

yes every coil a made i measure with lcr meter too. it is close to that what the coil calculator says i linked.
keep in mind the accuracy of meter changes some percent depending to measure range look in manual of your meter. in this low range my has a accuracy of +/- 5 till 10%

          can i help you
