A friend of mine, some years ago, worked for a transformer building company, so the made his own coils for an older Garrett 5.5Khz machine.
What he said to me, and I do not know where he moved to ask him questions is, he hooked one of the wires up to his detector, turned it on, the tuning was set in the middle of the settings, he began to wind, and when the audio sound came in, he stopped winding.
then he said he gave it some more wires, for the winding around the detector shaft, and said that way he could build a pretty precise coil.
He was an Electrical Engineer.
So what did he hook up, the Tx wire, one end of it? Or the Rx wire? I am a bit in the dark on the ACTUAL COMPLETE procedures he used... I also remember he said he put in a Farraday shield so that the grass would not affect the coil.
