  • Bounty Hunter 4 inch coil

Hi, can somebody please post the coils specification's for me if you know them for the coil below. What i need is measured inductance, capacitance, resistance and pin's TX/RX configuration if you can measure them. Might be the same for BH Tracker IV standard coil, cannot find reference to this, much appreciated.

Hi, Anyone at least got the Inductance measurement for the coil?

      Patience, Grasshopper.
From memory, TX coil is 2.4mH in parallel with 240nF, tuned for approx. 6500Hz, RX is 2.4mH, coil only. The fifth wire is a shield. Resistances should be easy to measure, I recall TX was 8 Ohm, RX was 5 Ohms. I will try and find more details.

Thanks Skippy, it a such a common coil i thought there must be thousands out there in use, sorry for jumping the gun. Is this coil concentric? I would say it is...Any other details given much appreciated. I had a idea that this coil is cheap enough to purchase and experiment with a VLF detector i have (different brand to Bounty Hunter) with the TX Inductance, resistance and frequency given by you of 2.4 mH so far sounds good. Hoping the RX inductance might be different to that given of 2.4mH.

Sounds a bit strange to have both TX and RX Inductance the same especially if concentric.

        Waiting for your confirmed results.

        Thanks Sido

I've found my notebook down the workshop, further details are:
          Pin 1: RX hot
          Pin 2: RX cold
          Pin 3: TX cold
          Pin 4: TX hot
          Pin 5: Shield
TX is 2.45mH in parallel with 240nF, tuned to 6600Hz. RX is 2.45mH. RX resistance is 8 Ohm (not the 5R I originally thought).

Hi Skippy, thanks for the information, will buy one and look further into this coil, see what can be modded for my purpose if i can open the coil halves apart. Might work on its own without changes. Will post further down the track with my findings when i buy one.

            Cheer's Sido
