New Half-Circle Coil !
The old coilforms are not so usable for active and really effective treasurehunting.
So I thought alot about the problem.
First I had the idea of a kind of snow-plow coil but the half circle would be even better.
It contains the overlapping DD area for very small objects in the center while the large half circle is able to penetrate very deep and matches the magnetical pulse form.
The radius of this coil should be minimum 50cm or 1,5ft.
And with this coil we don't need no longer to sweep the coil, which is a very good improvement. Just going straight ahead.
The gravity-point of the coil is not directly in front of the person but half near the person which makes it holding much easier.
Now the question about the wires:
each quarter circle could consist of just one coil bend into that shape. Usable for detectors that use the typical DD configuration.
The very sensitive spot for small items is below the overlapping area - perhaps here we have around 5-10cm of overlapping in total.
Well - so far so easy -but ingenious!
However it is possible to make the whole range of 1m diameter sensitive to very small items, too.
But in that case each half must consist of 2 coils that are slightly shifted so they can recognise the eddy current differences if they pass over a very small item.
However those both quarters of coils still must work for the standard ultra deep DD configuration.
That way we achive both - detection of very small and very deep items over the full range of 1m from left to right.
How this coils is transportable?
Either complete in 1 piece or as 2 parts with plugs for the coil connectors and coil cable.
