Seems a very strange website, and looks more like the result of a web search.

If you look at the source of the home page, it says at the bottom ->

<!-- This Quick Cache file was built for ( www.metaldetectorprice.net/ ) in 1.24171 seconds, on May 15th, 2012 at 8:09 am UTC. --> <!-- This Quick Cache file will automatically expire ( and be re-built automatically ) on May 15th, 2012 at 10:09 am UTC -->

from the look of it, it's a demonstration of the capabilities of Flexibility3 ->
    http://www.flexibilitytheme.com/

I wonder why they chose "Metal Detector Prices" for the test?

Yes it is a bit of a strange website, it popped up during a search, it took some time to get around in it, but it did have some interesting finds in there.

The first .PDF you cite is an attempt by Plamen of Deeptech to show the SEF patent is invalid.

Deeptech produced a range of coils which were scuppered when the guy who makes the SEF's took them to court for infringement. This doc is the one that Plamen sent to me to have a look at for "my opinion" in whether, what is essentially, a "O-O" search head could be patented given the volume of public information available (Nexus already had such a head) and it was explained to me that the SEF was a "O-O" but using oval heads (therefor did not constitute a new invention as such).

Inevitably, the SEF lawyers were better and they got the result, though IMHO the SEF's are nothing special in design, but they DO work, so who am I to argue?
