Hello to all ............i was wondering why manufacturer dont make more small size coil like 3"????tesoro for example did the amazing 5.75 DD for their HF machine but why not a 4"????same for NEL is it just because maketing wise DEPTH is a more selling argument than target separation i heard that back in the 90s REDHEAT use to make 3" and people use to bring their machine in parks where metal detecting was banned but that those coil use to "burn"................

Your views and advice will be very appreciated,as i m on a quest of finding the best combo for the thames river

Tesoro make a 4" diameter concentric coil - I have one. It's very good for really trashy sites, but (of course) lacks depth when compared to a standard sized coil. It's also a great little coil to use on the bench when designing metal detector circuits.

Thanks for your quick reply!what i was asking is why tesoro didnt do a 4" in high frequency.....i got the 4" in 5 pins very good for trashy site but the deus is doing as good in reac 4 with more potential power available

Usually it's a cost vs profit issue... specialty coils don't sell a lot, and they cost money to develop and build.

There is a fair amount that goes into building coils... for sales of ~10/month it's just not worth the money & effort.
