With DD, whether it is a VLF or a pulse device, both mask the object if there is iron above it unlike TDI .Tdi can find a coin under a nail or some piece of iron.
The TDI can in fact detect low conductors in heavy iron areas. But a silver dime in these areas is another story. The dime and nail give the same tone in this dirt, even with the delay at 20 but in good ground I and tell the difference. Now I will say, the TDI has found the heaviest gold jewelry in these bad sites and that is its main function for me. That was the main reason I bought it over a decade ago. Now think of this, you're hunting for low conductors at an old school where coal waste has been discarded for decades. This waste causes many issues for a regular VLF, maybe if you lucky a good ID at 3-4" maximum depth, else iron grunt. Many activities at this school, many beer pull tabs and beaver tails. Since I usually hunt for low conductors my good gold targets to bad (pull tabs) maybe as much as 100/1. Thats a lot of digging.

Thanks for providing the source. I would honestly think that if Tom D reckons the Tarsacci would 'open your eyes' in a coal-waste infested ground, then you should look out for a previously-owned one for sale. I interpret his "closest thing to a PI" line as referring to getting depth in difficult ground, with useful ID as a bonus. I've no idea how deep the Equinox is in your ground without ID, presumably the expectation is the Tarsacci will be deeper WITH ID, though not necessarily deeper without ID.

Still very interested in what Carl will have to say.

It will be a while before I can do anything with it.

            It's a true bridge machine

and? is it a discovery? advanced tech? Minelab XS, XS-2, Elite, GT are true bridge. Fisher Impulse is bridge (half bridge).
Dankowski has a gescheft for the selling. IMO.

Mr KT : When Tom said " It is a bridge machine" , he did not mean an electronic "bridge" , like a Wheatstone Bridge, or a Bridge Rectifier. He means a link between two technologies, like a bridge over the Danube links Buda and Pest.

Well, I have a guy that is sending me his Tarsacci to use. Should be here next week. Sure there will be a steep learning curve but I'm up to it. I love figuring out new machines. Coal slack and bad ground combined should be the real test for me.

Wow, what and idea. I would like thoughts on exactly the term, "true time domain processing; that is looking at the exponential curvatures" I've read where the salt balance setting is not really salt balance but just a name give to the adjustment. Would it be similar to the delay settings on the TDI, or am I thinking in the wrong direction? I've had the loaner Tarsacci for a couple weeks now and it would be a great help to know exactly what is being changed in the salt balance settings? I have a few locations where a silent SB can never be obtained. The detector always responds regardless of the SB settings.
I will say, in mild to low mineralized soil I can find no advantage of this machine over another. It was designed for beach hunting first with inland relic hunting in high mineralized ground areas next, or that is what I've read.
Anyway, any of the technical geeks can contribute to an explanation of the patent.

I tracked down the patent three years ago:

.... but still haven't found enough enthusiasm to wade into the details. So , sorry, I can't help. But it's not that important how it works , what matters is how does the end result perform?

Carl-NC Have you had the chance to run & evaluate the Tarsacci yet?
