    • Yesterday i updated my Deus to V3.2.
I decided to give it another chance.
Actually i never tried it more seriously so far. Last was V3.1 and it disappointed me on the real field.
But than i discovered that with V3.2 XP solved all the issues i met at V3.1 ! Wow!
      Now we mean business!
V3.1 tended to miss some shallow targets if coils is swing a bit faster.
Also V3.1 tended to produce strange and funny response on fat and nice but very shallow medieval coins (higher percentage of Cu in such alloys).
Sometimes V3.1 chokes and behaves funny.
I checked all the things now with V3.2 and those are gone! Hurraaah!
So now V3.2 rules... until new version comes to public!
I also have to point on another nice thing; the tracking GEB!
As old school and "experienced" user (the hell i am, knowing now the things i didn't know) i always looked on such "digital cookies" with serious contempt.
I never gave it a chance.
But now with Deus i discovered that tracking GEB is a hell of option! It is ultra fast and works exactly as i always wanted it.
No more manual GEB chasing and "fingering" it all the time during the searching.
I will use tracking all the time now, because it is indeed ultra fast and accurate.
      Big "BRAVO" for XP
      !

      P.S.
After 26 years of playing with detectors i am still learning... sheeeeshhhh
      !

      • Deus V3.2

        10. Gold Field
        Sens=96
        GB = Tracking
        Disc IAR = 3 (rarely 4)

Super sensitive on small silver medieval coins! Wow!
Last couple days i am working only in this mode and step by step am learning it's behavior.
Must say that day by day am delighted more and more with it.
        ....
I made numerous tests and checks on real targets to find out which setting for Disc IAR suits me the best.
So i found out that value 3 is most suitable for medium soils, while value 4 is very good for heavy iron infested soils.
Disc IAR at 4 and 5 produces crackling audio even on smallest iron pieces.
But i also noticed that value 5 is pretty much "discriminative" even for some nice but smaller bronze coins.
Value 4 can "crack" occasionally on smaller sized "bad" alloys, but if you cross the coil "left-right, forth-aback" than easily can be checked if target is "good" or "bad".
Value 3 suits me the best so far. It "cracks" only on irons.
So if you are hunting only for nice and "fat" "colored" alloys; use value 4, but if you hunt for any possible "colored" alloy, even "bad" ones; use value 3.
Along with Disc IAR you can always rely on very accurate VDI.
Gold Field is way over from being program dedicated only for gold grains and nuggets.
It is real killer on coins too. I dare to say it is more sensitive on coins even than GMP.
I don't hunt for gold grains and nuggets but mostly for coins... and i will use it more frequent in the future, no doubts.
I mentioned it few times on these forums; i am "old school" hunter and i always liked good old non-motions.
Gold Field is best possible substitution (to me) for old non-motions i had and liked in the past.
Even better; Gold Field beats up by far all the non-motions i have seen so far.
Beats them up easily in all the aspects you can name.
It allows you to hear literally all the signals in soil. All existing targets, even the deepest ones.
With combining VDI and audio (with IAR value) you are always pretty much aware of the target type.
So i do recommend it to coin hunters too.
        Give it a try
        .

        • Trivia... why naming it "Deus" ?
          Maybe from "Deus deorum" ?
          I bet it is!
Actually it is real Deus deorum among all metal detectors
          !

            • Ivconic, you have mentioned erlier that depth penetration was less with 3.1. What now? Have you checked in your garden your coins with the last 3.2? Thanks for input!

At the time i interpreted it as lack of depth, but now i understand that such behavior of V3.1 was due some bugs in code.
I don't know if guys from XP will admit that; but i am 100% sure V3.1 was pretty "buggy".

There was certain delay in detection and audio was pretty strange, much unlike the audio at V2.0.
I am not the only one with such experience, 3 other guys from here with their Deuses reported to me also same experiences.
GB also worked a bit slower.
Now at V3.2 i don't find such behavior.
About the depths, just 45 minutes ago i returned home from whole day searching, have 5-6 very nice finds with it, 3 of them are Byzant coins which were very deep, so deep that i was surprised too.
Those are made from "bad" alloy of Cu and Ag, large percentage of Cu and very small of Ag, not standard "Bronze".
So, such alloys are usually producing very weak response and coins made from it are hard to be located under 10-15cm in soil.
These 3 coins Deus detected today under 25cm (approx. because i didn't measured exactly) in average mineralized soil, which is very good result.
The other day ADX150 missed them. X-Terra70 also.
And audio was strong and i had no doubts. VDI indicated 83-87 on several swings.
So, obviously V3.2 is just right. I already have 2-3 weeks of constant going outdoor with it.
                Will keep it until V4.0
                !

First impressions: it is indeed lightweight, it is obviously deeper than smaller coil.
Didn't checked if it is deeper than larger coil too.
Stormy weather outside, i must delay detailed tests

                            • Bottle caps problem solved!
                              _______________________

I know much places where there are lot of coins and similar finds, but also those places are highly infested with bottle caps!
Stupid people are visiting such places to celebrate holidays and they leave lot of trash behind.
So there are places with 20-50 bottle caps per square meter !!!!!
Deus is the first one i am using so far that is able to complete overcome such situations! Bravo XP!
Silencer should be risen to 3 and even to 4 and than... no more bottle caps at all!
Yes; than it can be bit shallower but it's not problem, because it is still able to collect smaller coins up to 20cm depths.
And usually those coins are not deeper than 15cm.
I checked this several times and ... yes! It is wining combination for sure
                              !

                                Nice, I hate bottle cap.

I already forgot function of silencer on my ex Deus. Is this something like notch filters, for selective filtering out things?
