    • Is this company so small that it has no employees to answer a simple e-mail or
do you have to google-translate it to french first ???

      XP Metal Detectors

      8 Rue du développement
      Zi de Vic

However - as shown at that link now you have even the MEGA large coil if it's available at all !

Fire or not - there exists insurances and creating a software update is a different topic.
What is this for a firm if its unable to tell the buyers of their detectors what's going on ?!
Overpriced detectors with idiotically not changeable accus, crazy software-bugs and
total arrogant or ignorant people if it comes to customer-service!

I'm happy that I haven't bought one of their detectors!

No need to be so upset towards the XP producer.
        They do manufacture splendid machines.
If you don't like them; than don't buy their products, simple as that.
        ...
        "...
        not changeable accus..." !!??
Seems you deliberately are repeating this false statement like mantra, despite the fact that i explained on these forums several times; XP Deus batteries are pretty EASY REPLACEABLE!
        No sweat at all.
But i guess you are standing on that old saying; "many times repeated lie; becomes truth".
        ...
        Don't be upset.
Pick the detector you like and be happy with it.
        The end of a story.
        Cheers!

        • I know two experienced detectorists who have had great success with cheap Garrett including finding a roman hoard and moved to the Deus. One immediately had some success and loved it for the start. The other didn't find much to start with and hated it.

Shows how a bit of success changes are perception of a detector and two different people have different opinions of the same machine

Shows how a bit of success changes are perception of a detector and two different people have different opinions of the same machine
True. It is a matter of habits and matter of adaptation. Some people adapt easier on different machine, some don't.
I would tell an example, Bulgarian Golden Mask detector series... actually a Wave, actually a Pirate, actually a Blisstool...
In essence is the Magnum from Andy Flind, modified and extended with another channel, two tones etc...
But in essence it is still a Magnum. Pretty thin discrimination.
Major public opinion here among detectorists is that those are splendid "collectors", especially Golden Mask series (from model 1, 1+ ... to model 4; all the same machines, identical).
But how come that those are so good? Because of the thin discrimination; you dig a hell lot more with it! So once you discover something precious; your perception changes, you become a victim from trick of own mind.
You easily forget previous 100 bad digs and you focus only on last 101st precious one!
            ...
Deus's story is quite different. It is "sour grapes" for many people. But once you have it and once you master it; you'll realize how much advantages it offers.

I don't use fixed programs with fixed parameters. I did that in the past as new user.
I have 2-3 newly saved programs on which i additionally readjust some parameters during the searching.
My basic presets are program No.2 and program No.3.
Those two i copied on several locations above program place No.10 and than readjusted parameters.
For example; place No.12 is copied program No.2 , place No.13 is copied program No.3 etc...
Than those new programs also copied further with few changes.
For example; No.12 is working at 18Khz, but its copy on No.16 is working at 12Khz... etc.
And i have also "twin" programs with differences only on Silencer parameter.
For cleaner soils i use Silencer at -1 , while on soils where i start to dig lot of bottle caps; i use Silencer adjusted to 3 and sometimes even 4.
All depends on exact present situation on the field.
It would be very contra-productive to fix one program with certain parameters and stick to it all the time, on all terrains and soils.
It is "live" thing, it needs operators engagement and "presence" all the time; in case one want to become advanced user and to have good results.
                ...
Yet there are different kind of users too; the "idiot" users who are enjoying walking around with fixed parameters, lazy enough, relying mostly on lucky random shallow targets.
Such kind of users are the worst ones. Not because they don't find nothing (their problem, who cares) but because later they usually spread a lot of nonsenses and false facts on public forums.
Not knowing working principles of the detector, not paying attention on slightest details in adjusting parameters; usually leads to a lot of disappointments, false experiences and lot of frustration.
Not only that; but also like i said: such people are having "viral" need to spread their disappointments in public, by spreading very distorted "truth" about metal detecting and metal detector models.
It is better not to use detector at all; than to use it wrong way.

                      Thanks!
                      Pinpointer option is very interesting!
Also i am curious about new coils.
But as i recall; they announced elliptical coil much earlier and now is delayed to "few months"...
Ok... we will have to wait more...

                      • I think they "do not come into the gears". Should not be a 2-coil design and other new ideas?
I don´t know if it is good to have a overpriced pinpointer with the only advantage that it is coupled to the deus. Every other seperat pinpointer would do the job also. The coils are interesting.

                          Correct point, i agree.
But i guess that's the price what mostly dedicated users will pay.
It is an "exclusive" thing, something not necessary at all; yet desirable for some users.
And i bet; that's what they in XP counted on at the first place; the "exclusivity" and "prestige".
Stupid ... yes. Will earn some money for XP... yes.
The very same situation with other things in life. Some product lines are more like "status symbol" than something which we can call necessary.
(similar case which comes to my mind is iPhone. Phone is phone, any decent Android based phone will do the job the same and even better; yet iPhone is "status symbol" and "must have" in brains of majority...)
Although we must agree; they involved honest effort to make it desirable enough, having in mind all the features.
Pretty unique and genuine idea; to make pinpointer like that with all it's features.
I am also more interested in coils and their features and performances.

advertised before before year....now nothing ....

                              Hi Ivconic!
You are absolutely right. But maybe this "little" steps in development from XP will lead to a "big" new concept in future. We will wait and see.

Agree, but only as long as it does not crush over our (the customers) heads!
