  • Short overview on latest XP novelties.
I've been purposely silent on this for quite a while.
I gave it a time to see where this story will go on.
Seems now is clear. Same old story.
It is already seen so many times so far; neoliberal globalization take its toll again.
Ever since the V3.2; XP did nothing in favor to
    old and faithful customers.
In case one bought XP Deus with first series of coils (black 22.5cm, 34x28cm and later 28cm) and not intending (nor having desire) to change them; there is nothing new and significantly improving in newer firmware upgrades after V3.2.
Last year i tested new HF 22.5cm coil and was satisfied with it's behavior. But
It was just a lend for the purpose of testing.
Considering it's hot price of 370 euros; i gave it back immediately after i tested it for several hours.
Yes, that coils is carrying some improvements. No, those improvements are not justifying such lunatic price at all.
Upgrade V4.0 was with some issues. Lags and bugs, from time to time.
Than i waited V4.1. Tested it again with same HF 22.5cm coil. No lags. Probably no bugs, can't tell for sure, tested it only for few hours.
What i really don't like at V4.1 (and now at V5.0) is the behavior of GB function.
Now i don't have constant GB readings on my LCD to monitor and follow. Now it is behaving pretty weird and awkward from time to time.
All of the sudden GB number disappears from LCD and stays empty for longer time.
I read the instructions and try to understand what they are trying to explain there. I miss to find any sanity and logic though.
GB threshold and GB sense is counterproductive crap, as far as i am concerned.
Everything else i can accept. And most probably i would stay at V5.0 to keep some functions.
But crappy GB "improvement" is so ugly and
annoying; that i decided again to return to V3.2, and this time really for good.
GB functions is most important function at metal detector for me. And they messed it BIG time, up from V4.0.
    What would be my conclusion?
    They turned to money-hungry bustards.
They are "Copy&Paste"-ing the very same marketing logic and approach as so many other companies from
states which are heavily loaded by neoliberal capitalism pressure.
They kind a offer to customers some "new" coils. By extremely HOT prices. With very
debatable statement that those present some step forward comparing to older coil series.
Highly debatable claims. Except if we talk about white HF 22.5cm coil. For the record and to stay objective; yes that coil is carrying some improvements.
And now we have new V5.0 crap. What's new, comparing the V4.1 crap? Nothing really. Except that you can chose between more "frequencies" ... IF YOU BUY some of new coils.
    Ha, ha, ha!
Now.. look... are they stupid imbeciles or what?
    ...
If you are filthy rich; than my suggestion is to waste money and buy all those coils. Make a collection.
If you are not filthy rich; spit on them for good. And stay with V3.2.
Do not risk with old coils and new V5.0; simply because you may face pretty unpleasant wake up call from fast drained battery and defective device, sooner than you may anticipate.
Always do keep on your mind one simple truth; all those bustards are neoliberal capitalistic money hungry robbers and thieves. They only want your money.

    • If somebody asks me (nobody really will ask me, nor take my opinion into account); i would recommend these options;
      - To have several firmware upgrades available for download, something like:
      a) "V5.0a" = All the V5.0 features covering new coil series,
      b) "V5.0b" = All the V5.0 features supporting older coil series, no fast battery draining and no new and "fancy" GB behavior (horror for pro users like i am),
      c) "V5.0c" = All the V5.0 features except crap like Android app support, hot priced pinpointer support etc. (to preserve memory from those crap).
etc.. various combinations of functions and features, put in various upgrades, available for every taste.
Would be really good if customer can "Pick&Place" features from the "list" and form own upgrade. It is doable. Online. From the site.
      - To have possibility to upgrade equipment without paying full and hot prices all over again;
Would be really fair and "customer-favor-oriented" to offer new coils as exchange for older coils, of course with additional and "human" supplement fee.
For example; old coil preserved in good shape + some fee for one of the new coils. That's how you keep old and loyal customers. That's how you really do support old customers.
I know this is fantasy in today world. But it is good enough to be mentioned as an idea or option.
But reality is different. You are pushed to buy new coil (although you actually not need it); to be able to fully use new features.
Every new update = 400 euros least more to waste. Ha, ha ha!
For what? For a scam like that? To be pushed to buy "new detector" each time? On each several months? No way!
      ...
XP... they started pretty good and pretty promising in the past.
      In meantime they crapped everything!

          Start what?
It was just an overview from today testing of V5.0.
Would be redundant to name and list all the adjustments i tried on the field.
Would be really boring to read such article, especially for the people who are not having XP Deus.
Instead; i picked another way to explain my experiences with latest upgrade.
If one intend to buy this detector; most probably will buy it with one of new coils. Than no problem.
But if one already do have detector with coil(s) from older series; than updates above V3.2 do not carry any benefits and improvements.
          Simple as that.
There are many ways how to say this. I picked only one. "My way".

          • Now is time for "touche".
I started this topic at 03-22-2012, some 6 years ago.
I named this topic pretty ambitiously "There is only one detector..." .
In meantime, during this 6 years, nothing changed.
I am still with my Deus. Still keeping it.
Most probably i will keep it for good.
            But!
In meantime i discovered one metal detector which is better than XP Deus.
It outperforms XP Deus in almost all aspects... except one; it is still "wired", still using coil with cable and that's only drawback.
Everything else... is better than Deus. Tested on real fields in several occasions. Tested on different soils and under different conditions.
So, now, 6 years later; i think is fair
to acknowledge and accept this fact and say it in public.
            It is this one:

            • This is a hobby not a battle ground, dont start this endless thread that goes round and round and goes no where about how one detector is bigger and better than someone's else's detector , this just leads to somebody getting their nose out of joint and crack the sads and have a tantrum. Just like its happened in the past, people leave the forum and nobody wins.

                    YEEESSS !!!

Of course we must not just compare the technical stuff but also the possibilities!
Hunting by vibration and good music is like doping which raises of course the search-success
and this is possible since the Makro Racer in 2015 for the first time provided this great feature.

And sure - the standard coil might be a little bit better for usual coins or 15mm stuff but
what really counts is finding that "sweet spots" first and this is with 40cm just much easier!!!

So the main question - also referring to the thread title "..... better with larger coil"
still remains: Can or will you test it with the 40cm coil?!

Unfortunately i can't. I sold my 34x28 coil few months ago.
I am now having only 22.5cm coil. The black one from first series.
By the same occasion we had Makro Racer that day in company too.
I pay full respect to that machine in a way how it is made, designed and how it looks and behaves.
But it is not competitive to Deus and Makro Kruzer.
2 days of testing outdoor on the very real field (ancient site); Makro Kruzer outperformed Deus and way over Makro Racer.
Makro Kruzer came with small eliptical coil. And i compared the areas of that coil and my 22.5cm coil from Deus.
Not sure but i got the impression that M.Kruzer coil is covering smaller area, aka is smaller than 22.5cm for Deus.
Maybe this is not right, i can't be sure. It simply looks noticeable smaller.
Yet it is picking deeper targets. Or same targets as Deus but with louder and more clear response.

                      • btw. Hunters who are searching with small coil don't wanna penetrate!
Compare it with sex: Do you wanna come deep inside or just rub on the surface skin?!

For some of these poor boys of course sweeping detector plus larger coil is too heavy!
They don't have or don't wanna have enough muscles for their often just weekend-short-trips.

But it is pretty stupid to throw away the chance of finding precious deeper stuff just because
of using those small lightweight coils.
Someone can do this at a narrow or limited place which is known for coins or other small stuff
but for sure not on a general useful treasure-hunting basis where you must brute-force hack huge areas!

Sweeping a larger coil is no problem if you can sweep 10min with the left and 10min with the right arm.
Meanwhile the other arm can rest and recover and you are becoming used pretty fast to that method.

In the beginning of hunting at a new site a larger coil is much better anyway
for receiving faster an overview and to get rid of the larger finds which can camouflage the smaller ones.

34x28cm is too small anyway. I guess we need the 40cm MARS coil from Ukraine for such test.

And a 22,5cm coil really is just for smaller stuff - for such a coil any usual coin down to 30cm looks huge!

One question I asked ca. 5 months ago is still unsolved:
Is it possible to replace the internal LiPo accu?
I'm sure it is somehow but how easy...

Anyway: I am happy for you that you have a Kruzer and
I wish you further good success with it. I have 2 Racer with
1 small and 1 large coil and I'm also interested to check
out how good the electro-smog elimination etc. of the Kruzer
works. Perhaps you can test the Kruzer near voltage-lines etc.?

It is easier than you can expect.
I did several replacements for customers so far.
In essence it goes like this:
