  • Convert Teac Mini Stereo to Airband Receiver

Got bored of listening to FM Radio....So what do you do with a Teac Stereo with Digital FM tuner?

Convert it to the Airband and listen to local aircraft.

This model is the MC-D50 and tunes from 95-125.2 Mhz now and is spot on frequency and no drift.

I think the Tuner goes up to 199 Mhz but i need to rebuild the Inductance coil in the LC circuit to achieve higher VHF frequencies and make it possible to listen in on Amateur Radio 2 meters 144-148 Mhz.

A slight adjustment to the demod allows AM modulation to be heard intelligently.

125.1 Mhz is my local active Aircraft Tower Frequency.

    Cheers Sid

    Good work sid..

If you tune it down by 125MHz you could make a metal detector out of it
