I've been using Proteus Ver.7 It has some clever programming, but it's written by folks who have no experience in practical PCB design. One major flaw: The symbols in ISIS are incorrect. The symbol for an Op-Amp, e.g., should be an exact image of what the manufacturer's spec. sheet shows. In ISIS, the pin positions are different. That can lead to major errors in the PCB design.

The autorouting method does not take into account possible interactions ("cross-talk"0 between traces. Manual routing must be used for a trouble free design.

I've brought this to the attention of Labcenter, but they say that they are following ANSI guidelines. That's totally irrelevant to a designer. The manufacturer's pin positions are in silicon--not easily changed. The symbols in ISIS can be change with a few key strokes--relatively easy. I suggest a boycott of Labcenter products until they get some experienced designers on board.

The program should be written for designers, not bureaucrats who dream up conventions which are out of touch with the real world...

The program has a facility for disassembling a symbol and repackaging it again with desired modifications, but that process is time consuming and also error-prone.
