Yours seems to be a dedicated battery pack....Ie....video camera....camcorder....and other stuff too numerous to mention here. Since you don't care to solder....in my opinion....you're about to become a Minelab consumer ! Not much help am I ???

Well....crap....that's a shame....OK.....you get to saw the pack apart(use a hacksaw).....along its edge. Go slowly & carefully to preserve the pack halves.....especially that connector on the end. I'm guessing your pack is tapped....that is more than one voltage is coming out of the pack. Observe the wiring & polarity of the connections. There could be as many as 4 electrical connections on that connector. Notice the size of the cells.....I'm guessing they're likely AA size solder tab NICD type. You want to go for NIMH type. Go to this site and see what you can find.
Get back with me if you have any problems.....I'll try to help....

Joe,
Here is what you need 10AA nimh series connected. Then you need to solder a barrel connector to the leads. I also have a 17000 that needs a battery and your post reminded me to get one. If you are interested pm me and I will order two and attach the connectors.

Ahhh......a voice of experience.....Thanks for helping us out here Altra. I couldn't tell from the user's manual how the battery pack connected to the equipment. It looked like a special edge connector to me. Your method will be easier for Joe....since he doesn't have soldering skills.
