  • Need help with capacitors

    Hi, I just purchased one of the new barracuda kits from silverdog and having problems identifying the capacitors. The PCB is marked in the caps value 100n 4n7 etc etc. I printed the parts list for the kit where it says like c6=4700pF and so on. All my caps that came with the kit has different markings on them like .1j63 or 1nk100 and 4n7k100 and so on. I have been trying to calculate the valve by the numbers on the caps and just can't figure it out. The best I have come up with so far is
    .47j63 = 470n @C12,C13 & C14

    Check the link below....

    Basically

    4700pf cap = 4.7nf = 4n7k100
    1000pf cap = 1nf = 1nk100

      Also, The 63 and 100 at the end of these is the Voltage rating of the cap.

        Yea, I understand the voltage at the ends of the codes just having trouble deciphering the codes to match the values printed on the
        pcb. Why can't they just write the value of the cap on it like 4700pF instead of 4n7k. just like on the bigger caps they say 220 uF. I am assuming that when the have 100n printed on the board they are just dropping the F from nf correct?

          YES, 100n is 100nF or .1uF or even 0u1

          The Reason for the 4n7 is If you put 4.7n, Sometimes the Decimal point can't be seen.
          (Especially a Problem when Photostating a schematic or Parts List.)
          So the "n" take the place of the Decimal Point.
          And 4700pF can be too big to fit on many small cap.

          It is also common for resistors:
          4k7 = 4.7k = 4700 Ohms
          4r7 = 4.7 Ohms

          Hope this Helps.

            not basically.
            basically:-

            4700pf cap = 4.7nf = 4n7k100 <<= 472
            1000pf cap = 1nf = 1nk100 <<= 102

            103 =>> 0,01 uF
            104 =>> 0,1 uF
            105 =>> 1 uF
