what is a voltage of power supply in this schematic?
    - Marty?
Russian alphabet I don't know, but it looks like electrolytic caps are rated 6? So I'm guessing 6 volts rating. So power supply is restricted to below this. I say 3-4.5 volts.
What I find interesting is C2 and C3, connected back to back, as substitute for non polarized cap.

I have an oscilloscope but I'm still learning to use that too. also, does that mean I can use any voltage then between 3.5v and 15v? I wouldn't ask if I was uncertain but I thought making it would help me learn more about coil building. Thanks. Marty
You cannot learn basic electronics theory on forum. This you must do for yourself. There are very many basic electronics tutorials available online. With 2 months of intense study, you can become good with fundamentals of electronics theory. Then everything will become easier to learn more as you go along.

The purpose of this circuit is to measure resonance frequency of the coil that is connected to the circuit. Therefore you would naturally need to connect output to a device which measures frequency of the output signal. Oscilloscope or frequency counter.

The output voltage is stable over a wide range of power supply voltage. This makes the circuit versatile regardless of battery drain. However the maximum power supply voltage is a function of the components tolerances and must be kept below mentioned tolerances by a safety margin as best practice for design rules.

Resistor are rated in watts, which is a function of voltage(volts) and current(amperes).
So power supply max must also take into consideration the maximum current that will flow through any given resistor multiplied by the voltage drop across the resistor. The resistor must be rated at suffice wattage to accommodate this.

This is very good. My one and only criticism is the color of board. I think for small stand alone pcb(not meant to be placed inside any box), red is more attractive like baby candy!
                Very good work as usual.
That cap looks odd, I know it's a good cap, but it looks ****ed up.

DB i did probe all colors... but just green is only good transparent. you know i am tester and learning all things around.

DB big problem you do NOT know what is REAL substitute for nonpolar capacitors. it is NOT so simple you are grasp to yourself.

Thanks for the Alphabet soup. I can save and use as reference whenever you put circuit here.
I will do some more reading on the topic of capacitors to increase my knowledge.

Can you put here chart of Russian components symbols for schematics. I am collecting old Soviet era circuits that I can find. You can give also.
Not just metal detectors, anything else will also be good
