  • Recomendations for true rms multimeter and soldering station

    Dear all,

I'm really interested in your opinions about two items, crucial for everyone who deals with electronics, either like a hobby or professionally.
I need advise for affordable and reliable soldering station, possibly available online. Most of the time i solder trough hole, but smd capability is welcome too. I just like to here from those of you already using such.

Second advise is for affordable and reliable true RMS multi-meter. If you have questions I'm ready to answer. Thanks in advance.
Below you'll find pics of my current toys some of which are not matching the criteria and despite serving me nearly 15 years deserve retirement.

Nothing wrong with your current equipment. Just make sure to have a stock of good tips for the iron, and make a scratch note on a temperature dial where you are happiest. It is true that some professional measurement equipment became slightly more affordable, but it still costs good money. If you don't need your instruments to speak to a computer, you'll find that the rest of functionality is basically the same. You'll need a LCR meter, and that's about it.
I got spoiled with a desoldering station quite long ago, and now I'm lurking if it pops up at my favourite used equipment classifieds. THAT would be an improvement over my trusted Weller magnastat.

Thanks Davor. Weller is one of my choices and i still curse my self for missing one at the flea market. For a LCR i'm using one of those chinese toys but i'm unhappy with my multi meter. It's being repaired many times but at the moment the tips are not contacting well enough due to mechanical wear. Missing my analogue USSR made Ц43 whos protection circuit give up. There are cases the analogue device is preferred.
