What pcb design software are you using ?
There are many free programs available today what is your favorite ?

I don't like BCB design from day 1, mostly because of P-CAD frustration. But lately my kid has to use Tango in his school (!) so I had to brush up on skills I never had.
As of lately I started with KiCad. I found it much more cooperative than others, but still it has a mind of its own. The biggest problem I have is that my version is completely different (e.g. newer) from a version people made various how-tos on youtube, so many of those are useless. Say, it comes with only one track width, and the procedure is not intuitive. Did not try autoroute yet.

DipTrace. Now and forever. I've been using all kinds of SW before incl. Protel 99, Orcad, Eagle, Sprint Layout and bunch of others.
DipTrace is by far the best and won't ever switch to something else (I don't get cash for advertising). I did manage to screw the first few boards I've made because I wasn't aware of how to use the software at first, but after that things improved and I'm now making excellent boards without errors. There's a free version available for download give it a try.

I am going to give this a try. I spent well over 100 hours learning Eagle so have been reluctant to try something else (I have standard version). But the UI on Eagle is very odd in sequence which is part of the long learning curve. Also I suck at manual routing since I have only designed a dozen or so boards. I wish there was an online class on manual routing techniques.

in P-CAD i do every element myself. measure it by caliper and draw in LIBRARY EXECUTIVE. so every component on PCB is sure in its sizes.
this is hard work but i sure know everyone will get perfective PCB from me.
OrCAD is my favorite but it does not working in win7.

Respect to all the choices listed here!
I tried most of those. Don't have complains.
Yet i stayed at Sprint Layout and ExpressSch.
And don't have slightest intention to change them ever.
For very simple reason; suits my demands and expectations perfectly.
And i got used on those during the years.
After all; i am mainly doing small and simple works.
I don't need any better than that
                          .

Ivconic when you made the SBG-PID pcb files, which of the above software did you use to draw the schematic , do the pcb layout and make the gerber files ? thanks

"...Yet i stayed at Sprint Layout and ExpressSch..."

I am using always and only those.
ExpressSch for schematics and Sprint Layout for pcbs.
Sprint Layout 5 can export gerbers and Sprint Layout 6 can import/export gerbers.
                              ...
As for about libraries... i saw on the other thread some people mentioning hard effort to collect the libraries through years.
In both; Sprint Layout and ExpressSch i can (and often do) make my own components and form my own libraries. No sweat at all.
So, whenever i need some component which is not already existing and present in library; i make it and add it for good.
