I am designing a alarm system that is similar to a personal or rape alarm as they call it where you pull a pin on a lanyard that activates a switch to set the alarm off. The pin and switch is quite a simple design. the pin made of plastic keeps apart two spring leaf contacts that close upon removal of the pin. I thought this would be an easy component to find and could not find it anywhere. What would this type switch be called and where would i find them.

What about a headphone jack with normally closed contacts that open when the plug is inserted.
A plastic rod of the correct diameter would do it. -
One idea to try is a 3.5mm audio headphone jack and plug. Some have the disconnect when the plug is inserted and reconnect when unplugged.
