  • Scope advice request

    Guys
I'm really struggling with 2 kit builds other have no difficulty putting together. Partly due to my lack of knowledge but mostly I feel because what I have as a scope, which is no better than a paperweight doesn't correspond with the build manual illustrations. This makes it very difficult to know if I am on the right path. Monkey see........

I'm new to electronics and want to have a fair shot at getting it right. Could you throw out some info on what would be basic requirments regarding spec and tell me if any of these two are suitable enough?

I don't want to go nuts buying something that has every gadget a pro would find essential but enough to make seeing a representation on screen as close as possible to what a manual shows.

Also want to keep the cost down and I know you get what you pay for but that's how life is.

    Any help appreciated.

Thanks bud. I value your opinion after seeing it in the flesh so to speak.

I would recommend sticking with a traditional oscope (Hantek or Owon are good) versus an off-brand gimmick oscope. I bought a gimmick oscope years ago to use in the field but the interface was so bad it was not even usable.

LOL that is precisely where I'm at right now. They don't get more gimmick than this.

Even cheap scope, properly used, can be acceptable solution.
But for detector measurement, you should go for two channel oscilloscope (par example for phase measurement).
By help of memorized signal you can pass even with one channel scope, but here you need some more exercise.

Two channel version of your present brand:

If you wish to go to somewhat better, this Hantek is slightly more expensive, than from you selected
model Hantek DSO5102P but with 4x better vertical sensitivity plus in-build Waveform generator (great
              for coil tuning):

              https://www.banggood.com/Hantek-DSO4...r_warehouse=ES

Hantek DSO4102C above is with Banggood in EU additional duty and tax free, due its EU warehouse.
But on order, you need to select one of two EU warehouses (CZ or ES) and not China (CN) warehouse.
