  • lifepo4 3.2 volt AA battery anyone used these as in a battery pack

I was wondering if we could use these in a battery pack since they are the same size as a standard AA battery, i can get them in 3.2 volt, 600 mah
so technically, if out diy pi machines use 1 amp and hour, we could get 600 hrs on a single charge, or if the packs only go to 50% we could get 300 hrs, or am i just dreaming in a perfect world.
Next, can we use just a simple wall chaeger with out it being a smart charger, i am still looking, just wondering if anyone is using this technology.
So 4 batterys would give us 12.8 volts, and a simple case to put them in and a lighter weight than 10 AA alkaline.

600 ma in 1 hour. check ariphmetics. sure unusable idea for a PI tector.
you have to use 2400mA more capacitance batt.

A 600mAh battery will be depleted in 36 minutes with a 1Ah load, not 600 hours.
To achieve a time of 600 hours, the load must be only 1mAh.

        this is fantastic 18650 li-ion cell. 2900 mAh -! 4pcs will give you 3.6*4. https://www.quadcopters.co.uk/panaso...li-ion-battery

take this protection board. be cause you need in the board for the cells. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3296...27424c4dneH9yl
i give you direct link be cause bought it from the link.

        pleasure

The best AA / 14500 Lithium cells have a capacity of close to 1000 mAh at a modest load current, thanks to the vaping industry. See this test:
          https://lygte-info.dk/info/batteryIndex.html

Some dodgy maths skills from Mr Matt.
600 mAh would optimistically mean supplying 1 Amp for 600 millihours, or 36 minutes in plain language, as stated earlier.

18650 size cells are a wiser choice, as they are well-developed, thanks to the laptop PC makers, and the electric vehicle industry. They can easily be salvaged from obsolete laptop battery packs, which usually contain 6 or 9 cells. The best ones, such as Sanyo-Panasonic make, have capacities of 3500 mAh.
If more capacity is needed, I suggest the 21700 size, which is becoming increasingly popular, capacities can be 5000 mAh.

would 14.4 volt be to much voltage for the PIs we are building, unless i use 3 18650 and find a 3s charge controller to do each cell like posted in the links

ali express has a 3 cell 18650 charge battery controller for $1.08, with $1.40 shipping, may get a few of those plus order some batteries or check ebay for cheap brand new laptop batteries to take apart, ill look into sanyo, or panasonic, or compaq

If you are careful with component selection then a 4 cell LiPo pack would work fine.
Components to check are Cap Voltage rating), Regulator (max input Voltage and power dissipated, heat, due to Voltage drop).
If using the TLC7660 charge pump chip then you MUST drop the Voltage to it's input.

My HammerHead PI draws an Average of less than 200mA although to TX ON peak is a few Amps but is a fairly low duty cycle.
I use a 3 cell LiPo 1800mAhr pack (sold for power Quadcopters) and it will run my HH detector for over 6 hours.

I also use a universal Charger, the iMaxB6.

I do use a 4 cell LiFe pack in my Radio Control transmitter. LiFe batteries are very good for lower current continuous discharge whereas the LiPo's are good for High current peaks.

Some of the newer 18650 cells have pretty good peak current capacity that is between LiFe and LiPo. Actually perfect for detectors.

I am trying to come up with a battery pack for my detector kits i have, and want something that i can just plug the charger into a jack and charge the whole pack, with out removing the batteries, similar to the guy that built the chance pi, page 2 with pics, i tried to pm him but he never replied back. i will have to look his name up
