  • Test set for op amp characterization

I stumbled on this document, thought it was interesting.
With a jig such as this, it may be possible to know those fake op amps aren't what they say they are.
Maybe determine for sure what they aren't, but also what they're likely to be instead.
Just because they are fake, don't mean they are useless. There could be a perfectly good TL071 masquerading as NE5534 or LF357, for example.

It allows testing of a variety of characteristics. A useful tool if one is motivated to build it. Although I don't think DC characteristics alone can give full picture. Perhaps bandwidth and slew testing is also necessary to give an op amp a guesstimated name.

This circuit might determine damaged op amps input or those performing below par.

I bought some TL071 off eBay thinking that should be safe, who would fake a TL071? Whatever they are, they are dual opamps, not singles.

True, BW & slew are important for identification. Noise measurement can also help.

The flashing LED testers are useless to determine the quality of the op amp.
They are meant to be go/no go testers.

So I searched for a ready made jig, purpose built for testing a range of parameters.
        I found this one.

Given that there are so many fakes on the market, verifying genuine parts becomes almost obligatory.

first of all i must see a pic of the chip microscoped. in good resolution of course.
this will give me good represantation what i have - fake or not op amp. certainly i have to have
a pic of original chip made in USA, or his satellites.
