So I went into the last remaining (real) electronic parts store in town yesterday, and I asked one of the guys working there where the thermistors were. He said that they did not have any! Can you believe that? Then I decided to have some fun with him, and asked him if they had any I.F. cans. He said, "I don't know what those are."

I am reminded of an old family joke,actualy 2 It was the same uncle and aunt.
The uncle was working on the car and Aunt was Impatient to leave,ask Him.
"what is the trouble?" He replied,"the dern tail light has an oil leak"

yes...I know what you mean...for sure I know. Many newer guys in electronics shops can tell you many things about mobile phones...and other consumer electronics devices...but absolutely nothing about components and basic stuff...

wow...i.f. cans...don't want to figure out what he can think them are...too complex for an ineducated mind!

Change shop ! Or order parts by real distributors...forgetting about these nokia folks...

Its all About MONEY.

Why Hire a Qualified person that you need to pay a good Wage and have Good Bennifets?
When you can hire a "Brainless" Person for Minimum Wage, Part Time Employment and No Bennifets.

Or at least thats the Typical Boss's Opinion Seems to be.

The Same is Happening here in Canada.

What really Gets me is When all these people get to a Retirement age, They won't have Anything to retire on.
Other than WELFARE If its available.

I should add that it seems that electronic parts are like demolition derby cars. Newer cars are no good because they have crumple zones, etc., and older cars are no good because they are too valuable. With electronic parts, newer parts are either too expensive (if you buy all the parts) or surface mount (if you salvage them), and older parts can be valuable, and might not be very good. There is a fairly brief window between when they started making really good parts, and when they started making everything surface mount.
