  • NIMH Battery charger

    Hi,
I use and need a large number of NIMH AA rechargeable batteries and was wondering if anyone of you knowledgeable kind people can show me a good and reliable battery charger circuit I can build?
I need to charge up to 8 batteries at a time and the ones I use have a capacity of between 2400 and 2800 mha.
Ideally, I would like a reasonably fast charger but (the commercial charger I am using at the moment, does not trickle charge after quick charge resulting in relatively quick drain).
An led indication of full charge is of course also desirable, as well as auto shut down to avoid overcharging if that is possible.
Any information, detailed circuit schematic etc. will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Tony

Chip companies are now making custom chips for charging NiMH and Li batteries, that make designing the charger fairly trivial. I suggest you do a search for these chips, you will likely find app notes with a full design, ready-to-go. Then, come back here and post what you find!
