Hi,
Max.
I have made this circuit for charging today but have a couple of questions.
When I conect to power with no load the led diode is flashing and the voltage at end is 13,45 MAX.!!!???Is my ac/dc adapter week or what?
Where should I conect this ground spot under led diode? To - line?Because I have conected it now directly where ac/dc - wire reach its place on PCB.Is that right?
Thanks
p.s and this tr is with c b e pin configuration right?
Because I dont think that the probleme is in TR.

Hi,
do you mean the LM317 circuit I've posted ?
If so, it's regulator ic not transistor... you must be careful with pin assignment and don't make wrong connections to it...
I've used that circuit for a very long time and made many similar all with good results... don't know why you experience problems with it. Your transformer will give enough ac at input of bridge (usually 14Vac are enough... but you can use 16-18Vac too). If don't use rectifier bridge (so using DC output of a power supply) you need at least 16-18Vdc for right operations cause of dropout of regulator and other factors.
Hi,
I see, this also work pretty nice... I have 3 of them and use with different lead-acid sealed batteries (1.2, 1.3 and 2.2 Ah... but I have used also with 4Ah battery and always worked OK)
You have to just regulate the trimpot to change output voltage; resistor value change is required only to limit initial current: you can also leave 2.2ohm... don't worry about it at now.
Check if moving trimpot you reach 13.8V for now and let me know.
Hi,
Max.
when I use this ac/dc adapther with scale 350ma max when I turn trimer I get from 11 to 12,8V.With other from cellphone charger I get from 12 to 13,5!
Thanks
can you tell me your opinion about this scope C1-68 1Mhz?Is it worth to buy this one?45 euros!
I just went back from a new fortress, from one side the snow were gone and I try to detect.I found 2 small thin pieces from some aloy/modern/,but I think that I get one coin in some leaves!I think no more than 2 cm but it were close to one tree.So its look like I have nulled my coil good?
Thanks

Hi,
about coil I think you nulled well, so you start finding stuff, no matter if modern or ancient... now you can say your TGS actually works on soil.
About scope... well is fairly cheap stuff: 1MHz is more than enough to null coil, but look at minimum voltage you can measure (e.g. 5mV/div) to know if has enough amplification for fine work on nulling coils.
For other stuff 1MHz BW is too limited and you cannot use... but of course if you plan to find faults on TGS and null coils I think is good.
PS: you need higher voltage power supply for charger... it must reach the 14V output easy without load
Hi,
Max!
So,this mean that I havent damaged my sells?
I will go to search for more powerfull ac/dc addapther.!
Whats the differance when charging 10 NI-MH pack and 12V 1,4Ah battery with this charger? What should I change between the two sets?
I have to tell you that when I write to you last time before two days I just went back from this fortrres that I were hearing many noises there and this were the only one sunny day lately. So the tempereature just reach +.
And there were a lot of snow on the one side but on the hill there were a small area where the snow were gone and I stert dtecting there. When I thune geb just quick I start searching and I found a small copper coin.I think its roman.Very damaged but still seeable on some spots.Just this small coin for 1 hour but.......man this is my first one!!!!Its mean much for me!
So TGS is very good afther all. This coin were just under the leaves on 3 cm.Yestherday I go there again but the temperathures were under the 0 all day and I were not able to penetrate couse of the verey hard frosen ground.
Yes,I told you that I have found modern stuffs on my second test.
But I never find ancient coin till now!
With what did yu clean your find/coins without damaging the good green stuff?
I have noticed that when I turn the disc knob at 3,5 from 5 I get a lot of noises!Expecialy when I am on rocks mostly. But maybe this is from the - temperathures!
I will ask the man about this scope and will tell you about other datas.
Thanks

Hi,
nice to hear you found your first coin !
About cleaning ... sometimes is useful putting the stuff like copper under some mineral oil (or kerosene) and wait some days or a week... then after you can remove some dirt and oxide by a common brush. Remember not to use metallic brush or other emery stuff to polish good items.
Sometimes oxide patina will crack and leave the item without damaging too much the reliefs: that's what you'll hope happens after oil bath.
There are also chemical stuff prepared for that kind of work but I don't know names of widely available commercial products.
There are also electrochemical ways... but are for true experts... cause you can make big mess with them.
Circuit you made is good for gel-type cells, and I think you didn't damaged them with lower current/voltage.
For NiMh cells you need similar circuit but more care on current limitation than voltage at output (so you can use the other simpler circuit for them).
Hi,
Max.
I am glad to tell you that my TGS is working good now!
Thanks to you and Ivconic.
I have tested in air and I get around 25-27 cm for 10 euro cent coin in air and disc mode.
If I buy this osciloscope will I gain more depth because of the accurate nulling?
Is it worth to buy this one for 45euro?
I saw some multimeters that have frequency and I think that they have 4mV/div?Or it were 4mvpk-pk?I dont understand from this!!The frequency of TGS should be 14Khz?So multimeter should have unless 20 khz tolerance?
Thanks
Will try some depth test and will keep you in tuch.

Hi,
to measure frequency you can use also a multimeter... with frequency counter e.g. 20KHz range. But for phase and to see signals vs time you need the scope. If you are satisfied by your TGS now you can also skip the scope expense.
But if you wanna try extreme nulling and sensitivity settings you need one.
I think that the 45eur one will be good to see signals and get a good null on RX but sure is not good to read other sensitive informations like phase angles: I mean you can read them but a too limited bandwidth will make you crazy about results on such kind of accurate readings.
You can also buy some cheap portable digital scope for good price ... that will provide you directly e.g. phase values of signals or direct reading of e.g. frequency on the screen but good ones start from 250-300eur so are a bit expensive.
Anyway... you can relax now and think at these aspects and evaluate...take your time to make decision: your TGS works cool now.
Hi,
Max.
Thanks! This wrds mean much for me!
I will enjoy for shore!
I wont be able to use internet next couple of days thats why I wish you a happy and helthy new YEAR.I hope next year be more reacher on finds for all of us!
Thanks MAX
p.s.What cheme should I try for deep seeking?Twin loop?Hamerhead? Some PI?
Have you make one of those?

Hi,
thanks... same do I ... I mean enjoying my wonderful TGS.
I've made so far... anything ???
I mean I've made all of these types... made a lot of PIs (don't remember exactly how many of them) and 5/6 2boxes I think.
Made also BFOs and other kind of VLFs... anyway...
I've made Delta, Stuart's and many others...
back to the question: twinloop ? NO avoid it it's old and buggy project.
Hammerhead is good to understand PIs... I suggest it if you wanna make a PI cause Delta and others have few documentation... just posts and there are also errors on some schematics. With HH you'll understand lot of things about PIs.
I can suggest you also some Stuart's PI for same reasons...but there are also errors on it. Old ones like sandbanks are too obsolete now.
If you wanna make sensitive PIs you have to make e.g. Delta and modify them for your needs. Also pulsdetektor's projects are really nice... but you have to understand language cause all website is in german.
I think inland search with PI is good just with large coils of 1mx1m dimension minimum...and suspended at 20-30 from soil...other smaller coils you can use just on the beach cause of too many falses in inland conditions (maybe 80% of inland places you cannot use them).
Then you can also make some 2boxes for depth ... but consider you need big mass to really detect something with them... they don't detect single coins (99.9% of them I mean).
Or you can focus on magnetometers too... but for iron boxed treasures only or ship wrecks location.
