During one of my internet foraging expeditions I stumbled on what looks to be a really neat piece of freeware called Winscope. I found it at

Or just google winscope...
According to the getting started file, you can hook up your circuit thru a set of test leads made from a laptop microphone cable. I haven't tried this software out yet, I was thinking of loading it on a used laptop, so if I blow the sound card, I won't lose my main computer (they warn you to be careful how you hook it up). What I'm wondering is how does this software compare to a real oscilliscope? If this really works, I could see a situation where, with accessible pots and test points (like below rubber plugs, pcb mounted and located underneath access holes in the electronics box), one could tweak the circuit while out in the field.
Could be handy when changing coils to suit conditions. For example, when changing to a really large coil for deep hunting, fatten up the xmt pulse and pull the 1st delay out a little. Anybody got any experience with this type of software?
