Can someone please tell me how to test a tv remote without any testing gear apart from a multimeter. I dont know if it is my tv or the remote that is faulty. The tv and remote are about 3 months old it suddenly stopped working, and while the tv works ok using the manual controls it will not work remotely. Have replaced batteries in remote and tried a universal remote as well.??
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    regards minersright.

If it's only 3 months old then it is most likely still under guarantee. The easiest way to isolate the problem (assuming you do not have access to a similar remote control for testing) is to take the remote back to the shop and test it on one of their TVs.

Better for all, if you have a mobile-phone or cd-camera. Look with your camera IR-LED your remote control.Push a button and you see bright in screen-camera.If you see bright, your remote control work right.
        Very easy method for check

Thank you Andreas ,that test worked great. I used a known remote to see
if it was going to work and it did work,I then tried the suspect remote and
no result. A simple but affective test that I will remember for ever.
