If you are trying to get rid of AC line noise (i.e. 50Hz notch filter), you will also need to kill odd harmonics as well. A comb filter will null out a specific fundamental frequency, and all odd harmonics also.
Sorry I didn't answer your Q factor question, but if you are killing line noise, after you null out the fundamental, you will still have lots of higher order harmonics causing problems.
