  • Analog engineering legend Bob Pease killed in car crash

We should all raise our soldering irons in salute to the passing of an analogue design legend.

This post may be "off topic" ... however posting the news of Bob's passing in the Off Topic forum does not quite sound right ... so I posted it here.

    RIP Bob

That's very sad news. No more will we be able to read Bob's Pease Porridge columns, and the famous "What's All This ... Stuff, Anyway?" articles.

          To Qiaozhi.
Since 2004, every year on 5 June, the Bulgarian ham designers of metal detectors mark the anniversary of death of Andy Flind. Andy has contributed a lot of people in Bulgaria to wish become an engineer in electronics. His project Magnum helped since 1980 to speed up finding treasures in Bulgaria.
There was a picture of Andy posted by Dave Emery, however it disappeared from forum. http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showp...23&postcount=6
Qiaozhi, please find this picture or ask Dave to post it again.
          Sorry for Bob Pease :-(

                    wow. for Eric.

'People like Eric Foster produces some of the best detectors in the world.'

'The final breakthrough of the problem came when a test unit sent to Australia found a half-gram nugget at 3 inches using the device. It is interesting to know that many well-known manufacturers's, including Garrett, use Eric's technology in their products, under licence.'

Hey, people, see the title of this thread. Its content refers to a sad occasion and due to such sad occasion, I mentioned Andy Flind.
Probably I should not have posted in this thread photo containing Eric Foster, but I had no a separate photo of Andy Flind. You make this thread in tribute to Eric Foster, who has quite deservedly, but this does not match the title of the thread.
Eric Foster is not only alive and well, but soon married again.

This happy fact is worthy of emulation.
Let's start with a new thread in the Off Topic forum the information for any professional designer of metal detectors, as was done this for Bruce Candy.

Bob Pease died after attending the funerals of another analog legend, Jim Williams. I've seen some videos of the later on YouTube, they are nice. I also enjoy watching the photo of his messy desk: http://realityandreason.blogspot.com...bob-pease.html

                        RIP Bob and Jim
