  • led vu meter use for detector

    Hello,

the first time i have seen a led output here was a mod for the surf pi. Since that i have the thought to drive a led vu meter from the audio out of any detector.

An easy circuit seems to be the standard one in the datasheet of ic 3914.

If i have some time next month i will try this or similar.

just want to place my thought here maybe others have more time.

next funny step would be a led spectrum analyzer but if it can be of use for detector projects i hope

i tested some forum projects with a single clear white 5mm single led 20.000mcd works great on
seems to be no need for a vu meter but a vu meter is adjustable and you can good indicate the signal strength
with a single led it is a little bit harder and it works not in different colors optical indicator can be a help for the deaf people

not tested surf pi (test will follow next days)

I'd seen these before and thought about trying one, may need some changes

        hello silverdog

i think you could save some space if you try one with lm3914 or 3915 instead of theses with single transistors and some caps

search for lm3914 bargraph or 3914 vu meter at google videos
