  • Making PCB with cheap magazine paper

Found this great tutorial on making PCB with cheap magazine paper, and junk mail
seems the glossy picture printer paper is becoming water proof and will not work for pcb making but everybody has shiny magazines. (Hint wait till wife finishes reading before you tear out the page) I have not tried this method yet but intend to very soon.

This method works well. The benefit is that you can finish a design and already try it out just a short time later. Double sided is a little more challenging.

If you have a laminator you can replace the clothes iron. It's easy to press too hard with the iron and get fat traces and the laminator just makes it easier.

        nothing new

        hello
i often use this method already
but problem is that the etching soultion gets through the paper rest in the toner direct to the coated copper so that it is possible that copper under toner gets holes

other solution is to use overhead projector foil for laser printers instead of the paper
or press and peel blue transfer film

        regards

          Hi
I found laser print set on hi res using premium quality photo paper, the art is cleaning the good quality copper clad, needs to be cleaned using acetone , strong hot etching solution, should etch a typical TGSL size board in under 5 mins.
Start to finish incl drilling holes 45mins, not perfect but does the job.

          Regards

            Hi satdaveuk,

            try this instead of paper:

            http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM199575771P

Only Laser printer foil is heat resistant. !!!!!

You can use the same foil even more time after cleaning it.

              Hi
Do you put it in the printer the same as paper ie A4 through normal feeder?
              Is it actual foil?
How is it transfered to the copper clad
I f im coming accross as glum its because ive never seen it before, oviously very interested , is it obtainable on ebay, if so how much does it cost.

              Regards

Same stuff I was talking about.

Just put a sheet of paper over it and use the Iron. Works good.

Using vinyl sticker as an alternate to magazine paper

1 square meter of vinyl sticker is no more then 5$. You can make pcb from it, entire your life (if you are over 45 like me ). You can see here how can you use this vinyl : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtmJdCBjwXY and many more about it (including a Sprint Layout 5.0 very beginner tutorial) at : http://electroni-city.com
