  • Electromagnetic survey : looking for information

I am looking for information on EM survey, specially for archaeological use : papers, DIY equipment, circuits etc. I have been doing a lot of search on internet and have been discussing with some archaeologists.

    Thanks in advance.

A good starting point would be "Seeing Beneath the Soil (prospecting methods in archaeology)" by Anthony Clark -> https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...+anthony+clark
Also, check eBay for cheaper prices -> https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...clark&_sacat=0

      Thanks George.
I am also interested in building a two box (or any other variety, except GPR) device. Will be grateful if some articles on electronics, construction and setting up can be referred.

          Thanks once again.
I had gone thru these links earlier too. Good information.

I'd request if some one can provide more design ideas or technical description of some working equipment.

You don't mention the Goal. What are you trying to do?

This is for archaeological survey of existin/suspected sites. Depth 1-5 mts. river silt/sand.
Looking for buried structures : brick/packed earth, may be some metal, fired pottery etc.

This company's products alway interested me. It seems the circuits could be built by someone with a good knowledge of metal detector design. The 3d data processing software for the pc scared me away.

                  Altra, Great.
                  Thanks for the links.
It helped me understand the design principles.

Sounds like a some what fancy Multi Freq TR detector with data logging. Eaaaa ? Probably Txing One Freq and Harmonics there of. Receiver Notch tuned to the same. Up to ten channels. There are more then a few 3D data logging programs to be had.
