Hey guys, I've just started learning about remote sensing in university and I have found it fairly interesting to say the least.
I have this assignment where I have been given 5 applications and have assign appropriate sensors to it.
1. Discrimination of similar tree species based upon small differences in pigment content.
2. Mapping of single/multiple family residential housing (USGS level 3)
3. Regional mapping of exposed geological structures such as anticlines
4. Assessing continental-scale drought conditions.
5. Seas surface temperature mapping.
The sensors I can choose from include:
1. Landsat 7 ETM+
2. SPOT 5
3. NOAA AVHRR
4. Hymap
5. Quickbird
So far I believe for 4 and 5 NOAA AVHRR are the best choice. For 2 I have chosen quickbird and 1 and 3 Landsat ETM+.
Any opinions or suggestings where to go. I am having particular trouble with the geological application.
David.
