Yes it can be done. But it is not worth bothering as the amount you get is not
significant, and if it was you could be traced. Otherwise everybody would be
doing it, the electric company wouldn't make any money, go bust, then no-one
would have any.

Talking to a friend today, he told me that he had heard that it is possible
to suck a significant amount of power from a high voltage power line by
laying a wire on the ground underneath and parallel to the power lines. I
heard the same story once before. I cannot remember where though. Has
anyone heard this one? Any truth in it?
