Hello 'Professor' - login obliges. I'm just an old engineer in a similar direction but I don't have the courage to get into the construction of this at home. See on WIKI, it will be a little bulky to wear, maybe start with FG3 - it's the lightest today, it's available on the web.
Are there any sensors sold?
A little more finance and you buy everything. Until recently, you would have to buy an entire lab with a building. Maybe our colleagues in China have already reduced something?
I think SQUID is super expensive (have not checked it). They are used in some medical devices for process called "Magnetoencephalography" to measure brain activity. If you are interested, I would suggest you to read a book called "SQUID Sensors: Fundamentals, Fabrication and Applications" by Harold Weinstock. It is 716 pages full of useful information about SQUID magnetometer.
