The link below is the best non-technical description that I have
found of the GSM-19 and its many features. Gives us something to
shoot for anyway.
The "hip chain system" under the "BUILDING BLOCKS" link was new to
me. I have of course used a "hip chain" a number of times but this
was the first time I had seen it tied into a device to trigger the
reading in a magnetometer. Simple but effective.
