Dear Phil,
Thanx for mag sound, really really nice to hear. Music to the ears.
What system are you running?
The first beat frequencies I explored with were with BFO metal
detectors. Also found that with the one reference frequency way,
off, the change of beat was more easily heard. With Dale's input
of non-identical probes in PPM's, perhaps Liebhazet injects a
third frequency say at 20kHz that when mixed with the 2 kHz
gives very sensitive results. I did not pursue Liebhazet 's system it
did not appear to give an actual reading in nT . And believe me one
can get "lost " in interpretation of mag signals when for instance
magging for an anchor caught on a pipeline when in a boat in a 2
metre swell .....
My time is taken in building pulse induction detectors and am
researching their ability to discriminate ferrous and non ferrous,
especially after having a brief fling with a PULSESTAR II which
wasn't that sensitive and could only discriminate when the coil was
half way to the target. Perhaps pulse induction would be the
system to use for the aforementioned search for buried vehicles
because one can get 4 metre penetration with a 1.5 x1.5 m dia
search coil no problemo. ..
I digress...
regards
George
