I am planning to build a PPM. I am not aiming at "digging gold" but mainly to stay in the laboratory and have fun experimenting. Maybe have a look on how the earth mag.field behaves.I have some experience with electronics practising amateur radio when i was young. But I am not god at building things all the way from the bottom up. I prefer experimenting and do some modification on existing ideas if needed.
I would like to have some advice from you guyes who have already walked the road of PPM:s.
What pre-amp should I go for?
1. The 3 stage 2N2222 at hometown.aol with a tuned sensor
2. The 2 stage LM-394 by J.A. Koehler without a tuned sensor.
3. Some other option that I can find on the net.
4. How about using low-noice op-amps??
5. Can there be any good reason for using a balanced input configuration??
6. "To tune or not to tune" the sensor?
