    Larry with a "Y":

I have read numerous replies from you regarding LRL's from other posts and now from this one. Why do you continue to be so adamant? Bad childhood, abused? It seems like you get the proverbial "hard on" for ripping people a "new one". Being a student of science I would tend to lean to the fact that circumstances and events of our known world can be modeled by mathmatics and science. LRL's in my humble opinion (from what I have personally seen and read) are not even close to 100% much less 50%, accuracy for an infinite number of people. Finds cannot be duplicated as with MD's and other "scientific" equipment. Thus there is no concrete model for LRL's to go by. If there is no concrete model for LRL's does that mean that the electronics are accurate? How can you make something that is not based on concrete modeling and expect it to work the same each and every time it is used for each and every person who uses it? YOU CANT!

If they work so great why haven't we heard of any major finds by you? I've yet to see your name in a paper for a major find. As far as your next comment goes:

    - "Using just my field recoveries vs. your philosophic analysis of LRLs, who do think everyone who reads this posting will believe Carl - you or me?"

In all honesty I'd rather believe Carl and his "scientific" buddies than you. Why don't you post your finds on MD's. Last time, hell everytime, I've picked up a MD it detected metal either on a bench test or out in the field. I have found my fair share of items from using "conventional" equipment and I'm happy.
I fully agree with Carl in that you should get what you pay for. I am willing to spend good money for a MD because I know it is made from a reputable company, with a reputable warranty and if I have problems (which I have sometimes had) they are willing to bend over backwards to accommodate me. As far as capitalizism goes, their is also such a thing as scam, fraud, and suckers. Which catagory do LRL's and the people you represent fall under? I would love to debate this subject with you, in fact why don't you prove me wrong. Please contact me so we can set up a legitimate "demonstration" the next time you are out West.

P.S.- Your "mommy" must have given you a new computer this year to play with. - Stick with the porn., it'll make you feel better and we won't have to hear from you.

Re: Carl - Your VR-800 Philosophic Analysis

    Larry,

I have been following the discusions on LRL for several months now.

I have seen several attempts to have a field test that, as far as I know, has never been accepted by LRL operators.
There is even a million dollars to be won by the LRL operator who can proof that his LRL finds gold.
So far no one ever collected that money.
If these instruments were any good this money would be gone by now.

When somebody would offer 1 million dollars to any MD operator to proof that a MD can find gold that money would be gone the same day.
That is also the reason why the offer is not open for MD's

The test is simple, "Find the gold that is buried for you and collect the million dollars"

You do not even have to explain how it works.... just proof that you can find it more often than somebody who would just start digging at random.

Did it ever occur to you that if a LRL would find gold at a range of say 500 meters there would be many very wealthy LRL operators around.

Every professional treasurehunter will use only a LRL and forget the expensive Sidescan Sonars and Magnetometers and whatever expensive equipment they have.
Buy a LRL for $2000 and get the gold.

Many have tried a LRL.... and went back to their $10.000 sidescan sonars.
Do you really think these people will not use a relative cheap LRL when that thing would be any good.
They would readily pay you $10.000 a day to operate your LRL and find the gold treasure they are looking for.... of course on the "no cure no pay" principle.
Does it not strike you a bit odd that that is not happening ?

So why is the milion dollar reward never claimed and why is the LRL not the main instrument for professional treasure hunters ?

Quite simple really....a LRL does not work.

Looking at the innards of the VR-800 as an electronics engineer this does not suprise me at all.
The thing is not more than a poorly designed simple timer with a chip from the early 70's
The datasheet I have of the 555 was printed in 1973 !

If they claim that the thing is microprocessor controlled than that is a blatant lie.
To call a 555 a microprocessor is the same as calling an empty beercan a comunication satelite.

Larry, I scanned a schematic drawing for the 555 straight out of the official Signetics datasheet of this chip.
I did not change anything and the dataheet was printed by Signetics in 1973

It just shows a better use for the 555.

    Have a good day,
    Jan

P.S. Did you buy one of these things... ?

Re: Carl - Your VR-800 Philosophic Analysis

Larry, I don't think Carl's goal in that particular write up was to get into the tired old discussion of whether LRL works or not, I think he was trying to show what is inside of the VR-800 unit. And unfortunately for those that think there is something legitimate to the use of LRL, there are those that are scammers who ruin your attempts at convincing non-believers that LRL is viable. When I got into THing 5 years ago I hadn't learned that there were/are many scams out there in this business and I bought a used unit just like the one in Carl's article. I knew nothing about them, how they were supposed to work or Dell when I bought it. I didn't buy it from KellyCo but from a reputable dealer who occasionally pops up on these various forums. I opened the box and couldn't seem to get it to do anything. I opened it up and got extremely upset. It looks like a child built it. It looked just like the one Carl shows. I confronted Dell about it and he did not deny anything I had to say. I didn't have the guts Carl did to display it to the world. Luckily, the dealer took it back and exchanged it for a real piece of THing equipment. I was on the forums trashing LRL at that point (long before you and I heard of Carl, Sam, and Evan). One of the more reputable dealers on the forum sent me one of his units free of charge. I was so impressed with that and of course I first opened it up before I did anything else and it wasn't complicated but it was legitimately constructed by someone who knows electronics construction techniques. I tried the unit and I must admit that I'm still intrigued with LRL as I believe there is something to it. I haven't gone into the field and done much with it because it does seem to have its problems...at least for me it does. But, it does allow me to do some amazing things when I have played with it. The last time a quack came on the forums and I finally had enough of him and exposed him for the blatant fraud he was, everyone else on the forum emailed me and thanked me for it except for you. You got mad at me. The only thing I could come up with in my mind was that I upset your beliefs about that guy being trustworthy when in reality the far out theories he was presenting, that everyone was mesmorized from, turned out to be cut and pasted directly from the weird science web site! When I exposed that you got mad at me! Go ahead and defend LRL because you are sincere in your beliefs that it is viable but don't defend a scam artist as it only reduces the effectiveness of what you are trying to promote.

      The reality is
      1)HID is supposed to be 3 frequencies for better discrimination - a 555 doesn't output 3 frequencies.
2)Yes its true the 555 timer is still the same as it was when it was released back in the '70s and is a fine chip but no matter how much you try to pretend, its not a microprocessor.
3)$400 to program a new frequency into the thing?!?! There is no programming to do since it isn't a microprocessor, its a 5cent resistor added in for $400. You call this capitalism?! I call it a rip off!
The unit I had was even less than Carl's, the receiver I had was a coil of wire and a 9volt battery and an LED. Get this, when the rods touched, it completed the circuit and shocked the pee pee out of you! The anomaly qualifier was simply a 500K pot...period. This $1.09 part from radio shack is worth $600 once put in a box? This is capitalism?

Continue to promote LRL, don't continue to stand behind scam artists.
      just my 2 cents,
      Charles
