  • Get best from fluxgate - questions to Carl

"...One of the more reputable dealers on the forum sent me one of his units free of charge..."

That's an interesting remark... sort of what I suspected all along. Do you think he did that to try and get you to quit "bad-mouthing" LRL?

Care to tell us who it was that was so benevolent?

Get best from fluxgate - questions to Carl

As noted in a gradiometer design by Carl (SCL007 based), the 10 nt resolution can be reached.
Other source, posted here tells about 0.3 gamma when sensor fixed, but falls down to 70 gamma if
    towed in the water.
I build one couple years ago, but wasn't satisfyed with results. Now I'm gathering information about ppm, but still interesting to use fluxgate one, moreover it has easy interfacing to PC printer port.
I use very rigid windsurf must for fixing sensors 2 m length, with described ajustment mechanism. Maximum I could get is say 10 kg iron/1 meter sensivity (approx. 500 uT influence in 50000 uT earth mag.field).
As I understand the maximum of sensivity can be achieved by super fine sensor alignment.

    Questions to Carl
Is there other method of ajusting sensors for gradiometer.
Your noted here about nulling coil - what is it
