            PPM project status progress

            Hi,

It seems that the list of potential buyers for the PPM kit is not increasing.
However, we have good news for those who have declared to be interested.
A new french partner has joined our development team. He is developing a family of metal detectors and has all the capabilities to take care of the mechanical assembly of our PPM system. He has a large stock of boxes and non-magnetic sticks and can provide all the necessary parts and connectors to nicely and professionally integrate our set of electronic boards.
Moreover, he is used to deal with a coil winding company who couldbuild and provide the sensors to us.
Last but not least, he has all the necessary contacts with a network of french retailers who seem to get requests from thier clients of magnetormeter systems cheaper than the usual commercial ones.
This all means that we hoope to be able to supply not only a kit of electronic boards but also or semi-finished or finished systems.

In order to insert our boards into the existing boxes, we had to modify their shape. We also have designed a third board with an SD-Card socket and an optional internal GPS module.
The batteries of the system will be Li-Ion or LiPo type with a total of 4400mAh to be carried ona special pocket attached to the belt of the operator. These batteries are the lightest you can find for a given energy.

I have attached a few pictures which could give you an idea of what I am talking about.

              PPM boards

We have received the first batch of bare gold-plated boards from the manufacturer (see picture in attachment). We'll now assemble one system by hand to test its operation and its integration in the box.

                  Hi there.
I have been following your great progress and hoping you will sell your invention as a complete detector ready for use, because some people like me do not have the know-how (Electronic - assembly to make a detector). And since you are going that route I am interested on buying one.
Good luck, and I am sure your will not have trouble on finding clients for your final product.
                  Regards

                    Geo,

I already got good results from surveys with my latest prototype (the one whose design is exactly the same as the one we have started the pre-production).
Actually, I have made one survey yesterday on our archaeological digging field. Here it is.

Now, we need to integrate this board system inside a proper box, professionally build sensors and test the final assembly.

                      Hi Willy,

Can you up-date us on your progress .
How long do you think before we get our hands on your new gadget?
Willy which part of the world are you from?
                      Good luck and best regards.
                      A.K

                        Hi,

We are now testing one of our hand-assembled board set built according to the final board layout by a professional PCB maker.
The front-end board is working well and the controller board will hopefully be tested before the end of next week.
At the same time, we have checked that the board set with its rather complex outline fits comfortably inside its box.
Next week, a set of sensor coils will be made by a professional winding company according to our specs.

We plan to start our first fully integrated system tests in lab, then in the field, in two weeks if all goes well.
After that, all depends on the results we'll get from this Alpha testing but we should then be able to populate (and possibly slightly patch) more of the first series of board sets we have in stock.
These systems will then be used for demo and Beta testing.

By the way, three persons are currently directly working on this project:
                        - Jim Koehler from BC, Canada
                        - Alexandre Tartar from North of France
                        - Myself from Belgium

                        Willy

                            Hi! Willy,

We are very interest with thi Mag you're building.

                            A couple of questions:

                            - Is this Proton Differential Mag?
                            - Does it have audio/data output? And what plotting/contouring software can be used like the previous image you posted.
                            - Do you sell this as complete product? (Dorry, as we do not know how to build one)
                            - If so how much and how do we pay you.

We are in the Philippines and if possible please email quotation and contact numbers to [email protected]

                            Thank you very much.

                                Hi,

Sorry to reply so late, I missed your message.
This is the answers to your questions:
                                1. Yes, it can be used as single station or in differential configuration using two identical instruments synchronized on their RTC time stamps
                                2. It has aural feedback to detect large enough field gradients. It also stores all its results and their quality factors to a FAT-based file on Sd-Card.
                                3. I am currently using Surfer with which I made the pictures published on this forum but this package is awefully expensive, thus, I'm writing an integrated post-processing package based on a professional GNU plotting product using its scripting language and a C console program. This will eventually come free with the system.
                                4. We have indeed the intention to sell a fully integrated instrument and we are preparing our first demo systems. It will most probably be produced in small series when we have sufficient firm prospects for it.
                                5. We had defined a selling price for the set of fully assembled and tested electronic boards but we still have to define the price for the full instrument.
                                6. Payment would eventually be made through Paypal, both for reservation and for full payment.

                                Willy
