I think you leave too much to do for the customer buying from you. It could be better idea to raise the price, but provide a more "finished" product. Anyway, 1600USD is way beyond amateur use and far below professional equipment, so you end up in a gray zone, a bad place to be. You seem to have a good idea and it should be a shame if you loose it from the start.

The battery is lousy in my opinion, too big and heavy. Please consider the products from this company:
    http://www.inspiredenergy.com/
We have used their batteries in our equipment with very good results, and we have to pay heavily to get them here from Florida, U.S.

The mechanical assembly is a bit rudimentary compare with the look of the control console, I think it will pay to develop it a bit more.
    Regards,
    R.A.

      Hi,

You are right. We are in the 'grey' zone but we strongly felt that we could not wait more before publishing a pratical solution witha price tag attached to it.
Our current problem is mainly to find professional sub-contractors to manufacture and assemble the mechanical parts of the system. We hope to eventually find those, possibly with the help of some of you, forum members.

We have solved the coil winding subject by buying a specialized machine but we still need a good solution to the sensor container and to the chest plate. We are not equipped to manufacture those ourselves with a 'non-loosy' results ;-)

Those Li-Ion batteries seem to be very interesting. What do you mean by 'we have to pay heavily to get them here from Florida, U.S.'?
Are they expensive or is it the shipping which is expensive?
I would add that a battery of 2Kg (the gel-cel lead acide 12V type) is cheap, easily found everywhere in the world and is not feeling heavy when carried the way we plan it to be. The particular battery shown on the picture is really bigger than necessary, it is 7.5Ah while a 5Ah would be more than enough for a standard underground survey.

        Hope

        Hi Willy,

You came a long way with your project and you made a lot of people exited about it and waiting for you to say OK gays it is ready to be shipped. I do think people who are interested to buy one from you would like it to be a complete one, just ready to tun it on and go.
If I may speak for myself (since I do not have electronic back round) I would not like to fiddle with a good and price piece of equipment without knowing the outcome result.
I believe you can find a solution to provide a finished product, and I am sure you will have more people to purchase your gadget with a reasonable price.
In Canada James can get you a good batteries and quite powerful too for a good price, he can go to radio-shack, or he may even find them in Canadian tire or some other outfit.

        Cheers

          Hello Willy ,
Very good work, yes it is difficult to give a finished product to people , because in semikit some people do not have ability with handmade and need the product finished in another hand like me, I like much more the kit version , but the complete kit ...
My complete sincere thinking is :
          - O you will have to sell a complete finished detector with the titanium case, same design of case for the battery etc.... all with this "type of design which I do not like, the round BOBO computer design "....I prefer 50`s,60's years square design!!!
          - o you have this kit : standart rectangular o square board (not the round board for the titanium) tested with manual and tested coils ,
I prefer this kit with a rectangular board, and I will put in a rectangular case I will find many in MOUSER (like I prefer) , I will make also my PVC plumber case for the battery ( yes better GEL-CEL standard battery you can find everywhere), I will make my PVC o aluminium ROD ...- with what i like....
And I will love my finished product with your very interesting electronic research , and resume you will sell the brain and i will put the body...
But many thinkings in the world and it is difficult to satisfied everybody
Thank you very much again with your effort to give a good mag
          Saludos from Mexico
          Alexis.

            Hi Willy,

Can you tell me the price of complete electronics only excluding battery and sensors?

I have intention to build my own toroidal sensor (I believe one can build any type of sensor to match your electronics) and I think the battery is easy to get from anywhere.

            Thanks,

              PPM Proposal upgrade

              HI,

For those who are ready to build their own sensor and integrate the board set inside a proper enclosure, we can propose the assembled and tested boards for USD1300 per set. This kit will be documented by a detailed assembly and test manual and the integration project will be supported from ourselves through E-Mail.

                  Hi Eugene,

                  1. This is NOT a GPR, it is a PPM ('Proton Precession Magnetometer').
                  2. It has a real-time graphical mode of operation showing the latest 20 results of measurements as a shifting bar chart.
                  3. The picture shows an enclosure with the word 'titanium' engraved on it indeed but it just contains the electronic boards of a PPM, period.
                  4. The double coil, noise-cancelling sensor is included in the SEMI_KIT @ $1600 but not the container. The enclosure and the sensor are not included in the KIT @ $1300.
                  5. Look at the many threads I have already created on this forum, you will find plenty of data, results and specs about it. We'll soon publish the draft of its operator manual on this forum.

                  Regards,

                  Willy

                      Hi all,

A few updates about our project:
                      - We have finally decided to use a NEMA box as enclosure. It will be operated in full waterproof mode.
                      - We have added two GPS options to our price proposal, one using an internal GPS engine and one using an external SIRFIII-compatible GPS device.
                      - We have bought and tested a coil winding machine to build the sensors.
                      - We have found a proper container for the mechanical protection of the sensor coils.
                      - We'll probably also enclose the battery in a NEMA box fixed under the control box.
                      - Thus, we'll be able to offer a fully assembled instrument to be operated by a walking operator.
                      - We have now received enough pre-orders to start next week the manufacturing of a series of 10 board sets.

                        Updates (proposal + manual)

                        Hi all,

This is the latest version of our semi-kit proposal and operator manual.

The operator manual is still a work-in-progress as we try to make its procedures as explicit as possible with practical examples of data.

Note that there are now three types of GPS options and there is a true kit proposal providing only the un-packaged set of boards and its application code.
As you have probably read in other threads on htis forum, we have now decided to use a watertight NEMA box instead of the nice little round box shown on the pictures already published.
We also have found a good container for the sensor coils.

However, the pictures on the proposal document are still showing the round box. As soon as we have assembled the first system in its new raincoat, we'll publish its pictures and modify the pictures in the proposal document accordingly.

Moreover, we'll then be able to upgrade our price proposal with a fully assembled instrument built for walking surveys.

Our order to manufacture 10 sets of bare boards has been issued at the beginning of this week. Its delivery time is supposed to be ten working days.
Then, we'll manually assembe a complete unit and fully test it before starting the profesional assembly process for the rest of the series.

                        Willy
