  • PPM Mark II

    Hi all,

I have opened this special thread where I'll post all future info about our PPM Mark II until I create a web site devoted to it in the near future..
This is the latest version of its data sheet and operator manual.

I also have joined a few pix of our final NEMA enclosure.
It shows the SD card socket, LCD and keypad in place with the boards as they will be fixed in the box. The boards are still bare as we just have received them from the board manufacturer. I'll update the pix as soon as we have finished assembling our very first unit by hand.

The full unit, assembled for walking surveys will have another NEMA box fixed under it (back-to-back ) to contain a 5Ah lead battery. The carrying belt will be passed and fixed between the two boxes so, that we do not drill more holes in the boxes. All the external connectors will be IP68-rated.

    Progressing slowly but surely...

    Web Site Link

    Hi,
This is the Web Site we just created to publish all our documents and info related to the PPM-MARKII project in the future. http://users.skynet.be/fa352591/HOME.htm
It will get a more mnemonic domain name asap.
We'll continue to post here signals when there are some changes on the web site.

      Your Web-site,

      Hi Willy,

I wonder why your Web site is not accessible?
How fare are you from offering the complete assembly package to who would like request it?

      Thank you.

I am afraid I made a mistake when giving the link. This is a more mnemonic one:
          Sorry.
          http://www.ppm-markii.net/index.htm

We are still assembling and testing the first production unit in its final packaging. When all will be Ok, I'll publish pictures of it.

              Hi,

The following document has been updated with the newest data:
              http://users.skynet.be/fa352591/PPM%...l%20V%202e.pdf
Please note the following important remarks:
In the current status of our project, we have not yet concluded any agreement with a professional company to mechanically assemble the Semi-kit package, let alone a fully assembled unit, even if this is in discussion at several places of the world. This means that we are ready to build the few reserved Semi-Kit packages ourselves but we are not ready to make it a general rule as this requires too much manual effort. This means that the units that have been reserved up to now will be built and shipped as promised but, until we find a contractor to assemble the semi-kit or the full unit under license, we’ll only provide the KIT packages with its optional sensor coils (see the details in the proposal document itself)

However, the KIT package will be documented in a detailed assembly and test manual and the integration project will be supported from us through E-Mail. We can provide the list of reference numbers for the mechanical components we are using to complement the set of boards and what we do to build the semi-kit packages. All the required components are available from Digikey.

Benchmark test results from the PPM MarkII system

Hi all,We have got independent benchmark test results from one of our first users. Those results are much more than we could have ever dreamed of. They are at least equivalent (if not better) to the results you get from a 'professional' system but at a quarter of the usual commercial pricing.Look at our web site, you'll find the full story. --> http://www.ppm-markii.net/index.htm

I want to say a few things about this PPM project. First of all this is not another metal detector kit in many ways. The board’s quality is far beyond from any kit, looks and really are professional. Also has a more general role as a geophysical instrument.
About ppm performance, we are satisfied. We made many tests to be able to understand well enough, the basics of the PPM. At this point I must give many thanks to Willy Bayot. The after sales support was astonishing . The proton mag sees the targets on a different way. With his help soon (earlier than we expected) we was able to understand the nature of the targets and finally to make far better surveys.
My conclusion is that this ppm is a true geophysical instrument at a fair price.
