  • Fluxgate Magnetometer by Carl Moreland

Hi, I'm very interesting to build this magnetometer. Please someone can tell me the performances (deep)? It's a good tooll?

    All the best, D.

Hi Damiafix, I just got through ordering the kit from Fat Quarters Software and will be constructing it over time. I believe it will be a viable tool in a search for large meteorites.

Hi John, many thanks for your reply. I'm waiting first to order, I was in doubt if to buy the complete kit or only the sensors. I could make the PCB from myself, but maybe is much fast to buy directly the kit. Do you ever seen the Flux gate in action? I'm pretty interested from its performances, it's easy to use?

      All the best, Damiano.

Hi Damiano, Not to worry, I have no doubt in Carl's abilities and I know it will work fine. Really it's in the hand's of the builder don't ya reckon ? I hope you take the leap. All the best to you Mr. D.

Many Thanks John, I live in Italy, so I prefer to buy the kit in Europe, from Speake & Co I must to know if is the same sold from Fat Quarters Software & Electronics I've send a e.mail for clarification. The Speake's kit is for to build a Gradiometer, and consist in:

2 pieces FGM-3 Magnetic Field sensor
          1 piece SCL-007 Gradiometer I.C. chip
1 piece FQS-003 Parts kit for Gradiometer PCB
1 piece FQS-004 PCB for Gradiometer
          1 piece AD557 DAC I.C. chip.

What do you think? I wish to use it for found big relics and underground cavities!

          All the best, Damiano

P.S. Ok received now a e.mail, the kit as the same!

            !
            Hi Damiano,

Gradiometer is not suitable for searching on large terrains like MD. It is for small places and for filigree and time-consuming work. Maybe better to build and use PI with bigger coil.

              Many Thanks WM6,
I've build a Delta Pulse with a 83cm coil, and it work fine but there's a friend here in Italy, that use a Magnetometer Magnetic Locators GA-72Cd with some success, but I don't know if the Carl project is the same type of tool!

              All the best, D.
