    I am going to record to card SD data in mode Excel;
    Package after 32 Bytes, 16 packages in sector 512 Bytes,lecture from GPS what 1 s, record to SD what 16 s.
    Card from FAT16, 2GB senile on year.
    The organization of Package:
    2Bytes - [data from magnetometer in code U2]
    30Bytes - data from GPS taken out from $ GPGGA -[cr][time][cr][longtitude][cr][latitude][cr][lf]
    Results please me plotted from Willy - congratulations.
    What will free programme take root such data? DPlot, Visit, Snuffler, Gnuplot.
    At last in MS Offis Excel 2007.
    My someone experience in this?

    save as .csv in excel

    csv is a simple text file whose fields are seperated by commans ","
    csv files can be opened with excel and any ascii text editor

    csv files can be imported to Geosoft, Techbase and many many many other programs

      In (to) on make 2 version ( write ) .asm ATMega8.
      I made [cr] in order to each was given after lecture of card SD in next field already. I wanted to facilitate post-procesing.
      I do not know so far data entrance (input) for protokol e.g. program Snuffler or Gnuplot. I can change data else magneto/data GPS and length of package data < give >.
      Name of file is to cards (karts) "GMAG.txt", it is sewed up in flasch program, next remembered (stored) sectors extend file only.

        i have a program that uses gps data at 4 second readings , field mag at 1 second and base mag at 5 seconds.
        the program corrects for the diurnal and interpolates the gps station by time.
        all units of course must have the same time

        but to make the program work
        time must be in real seconds and not decimal seconds.

        check what format your time is in .. if it is in decimal seconds you may be creating extra work for processing the magnetic diurnal correction.
        mags normally use real seconds "60"

        the mag may be storing data as real seconds "60" and the gps as decimal seconds "100"

        i assume you want others to be able to correct for the diurnal

          visualization

          Time is my only time GPS but limited till full second, beyond this my GPS reads as yet 1 once on sec.
          I in line have value nT / m; time till 1 second, longtitude; latitude; [cr][lf] - together 32Bytes.
          No superfluous data, I want finally to get painting 3D.
          I add GPS type FGPMMOPA6B from http://www.gtop-tech.com - sensitivity up this -165 dBm tracking; position accuracy < 3m CEP; I will see how it will be in practice - therefore I use as number of position time.
          This my first model from GPS so a lot of tests wait me!
          Therefore I look for on fast simple post-procesing and visualization.

              I use Goldensoftware´s Surfer8.0 for plotting the grid and Goldensoftware´s Scripter to create the *.grd-File from the *.txt-Data. I use for communication from logger to laptop a own C++ Prog.

                Schatzsucher danke, it is good to know that even people who are doing interesting programs themselves.

                I have a different layout of course, but I know that should lead to a similar level to facilitate the work in the field.
                Before me learn to write scripts.

                  Hi Ronjoly.
                  I incorporated your suggestions. It shows some indications of the logger is on my desk at home, however, some GPS liquid.
                  Sign: P-Point; A-automatic operation; the result; time; latitude, and a single minute after the dot; a single minute longtitude and after the dot; cr; lf.
                  Registers only details position.
                  Writing to SD is short, do not lose the measurement.
                  However, uDRIVE-uSD-G1 "4D Systems" has its moods.

                    I am after tests.
                    Sie gives me, from I am the excess of data GPS. Doing in VUMATE graph with file *.xyz shows , from I walked how drunken.
                    The the smallest figure of geographical position the liquid I - add with position the file on my desk.
                    As yet I gave up from indication of special points of position, indication in device work and manualu, I intended regained place on full indication of geographical width. The view in second part of file.
                    Because I record the position the GPS on second once, I am going to enlarge the frequency of measurements and the registration putting only one position on sector 512 Bytes, I will add the full record of geographical position and the quality of money transfer the GPS.
                    Record GPS will will be to hold on beginning of path measuring An always - Bn and additionally on beginning every sector on card SD.
                    I use on walks gradiometer after mountains, I introduced the additional switch of power supply GPS and SD, I leave this way 80 mA in battery!
                    I am going to enlarge the length of pipe the MAG to 170 cm, because I near length 100cm have to stoop to LCD, and this has to be the pleasure of work from MAG!

                      I greet constructors!
                      The below current file of record to card the SD.
                      Once on sector have the time and the geographical position as well as the quantity of satellites. Sectors separated additional "lf".
                      I have 60 measurements on sector, every lasts 0,5 second. Two sectors on minute.
                      The end of measuring path this inscription the value + 00000, the rest of sector is with previous content the repetition the buffer.
                      I introduced the switch of power supply of type I-0-II, that is or record or I am on walk and I leave in battery 70mA (without GPS and SD).
                      I wait on better weather, as yet I have rainy time!

                        Chris,
                        I assume your magnetometer has analog waveform output, what circuit/chip do you use to digitize it into a "find"? Do you just listen to any tone and log the tone?


                        Also, my lcd capture hack is coming along. In the next couple days I'll be ready to test with a parallel interface

                          Nowhere do not have ADC.
                          I have a combination of counting the frequency of the probe.

                              Hi Epitopios.
                              Still have not found Hitler's gold, or sleeping knights.
                              I'm hopeful.
                              Everything in front of me.
                              Now, test the new family's Cypress PSoC1. Digital and Analog on board one of the bones. Reconfiguration Pin's and blocks on the fly.
                              Cool but a lot of work.
                              Be sure to test the program in "real" because the processor is too big opportunities!
