  • Holding the PVC adapters for sanding

So I need to hold the PVC adapters to sand them down a bit. I will do it in a drill press but I can not figure out an easy way to hold them in the .5 inch chuck? Any ideas on how to do it??
    Thanks
    Fitz.

How I am going to do it.

I am going to put a rubber stopper in each end of adapter. They will be center drilled and I will run a long .25 inch bolt through them both. A washer and not on outside of each stopper will let me squeeze them. The stoppers will be held securely and I can hold the end of the bolt in the drill press chuck. I will use a sanding sponge to smooth down the adapters.

I will post a pic of the set up when I do it.
I see others have wondered how to do this as the post got many readers.
      Thanks
      Fitz.

        Hey, Fitz.
Your first post was incomprehensible to me (no English).
My sensors placed in plastic (neoprene) on a lathe and then to 50mm diameter PVC pipe, I want to be able to rotate them (barely).
Your gum when placed in the middle no longer moves.
        The pipe plastic corks do.
I think that my design will repeatedly open (new ideas always come after the final closure of the case).
        Good luck K.

Here is how I held the adapters for sanding.

First sorry for the camera phone pic but my shop is in a different building than my home and I was too lazy to get a good camera.
The adapter tube is held between two rubber stoppers and a .25" threaded rod is running through the centers of them. A bolt on each end of the unit holds it together. I put it in the drill press and used foam sanding blocks. It worked great but took longer than I expected. I bought all the parts at Lowes....

            Congratulations Fitz!
            Very clever idea.
My little mage przyhamował but will continue.
