    Hi Geo
    1. I think these pads are not bolts from the metal!
    2. Do some shorter screws will not clog.
    3. You screw me do not give anything, struggled in the sensor teflonie tight, then I turned round in a Teflon housing for a minimum differential signal.
Of course, the gradiometer measurement in free space (EMI), directed east-west, 1.5 m above the ground.
No ticks or mobile phones in the area.
    Best regards Chris.

Thank you. If so, then probably need some lining under screw to easily regulate position of sensor.

                Hi Geo.
                I'm sorry bad translation.
The regulation gradiometer can not carry any metal (feromagnetic) tools and equipment.
In the distance lies ticks and mobile phone. Adjustment is to balance and maximum sensitivity.
Any indication of iron stick, it boots, or trouser belt.
                Best regards Chris.
