  • Carl Morelands Mag - Gain?

Could someone tell me if pin #1 of the SCL-007 PIC is held high, for highest gain or, lowest gain. The schematic that I'm using shows for the pin to be at +5 volts. I noticed in the forum that someone is suggesting that it should be run in the lessor gain mode for best practical use.
    Thanks,
    Monty

      Hi Damiafix.
      You can easily examine.
Calibration without leaving MAG, any position - lying on the table, PIN1 to GND, 10 seconds come closer to one piece of metal probe to obtain the indication (voltage or sound) for about 50%.
Then disconnect from GND PIN1 (on 5V) and examine the same.
You should be more sensitive (faster response), this means that you are in high sensitivity.
By the way you compare the two modes.
      Best regards Chris.

        Hi Chris,
many thanks again, I'll try personally, but is so strange that nobody, during the costruction, has knew this so important aspect.
I'll let you know soon this result, and I'll insert a switch for get both the modality in the field.

        All the best, Dam.

MAG is a new and difficult area of MD. The designer does not know the level of end-user.
At the same time do not write the book.
          Good luck. Chris.

            Hi Chris,
hi everyone....about the L/H sensitivity mode of the SCL007, I can to say that in the Carl design, it work in low sensitivity mode.
For most details, to read this 3d at post 73.

            All the best, D.
