I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me. I recently assembled the flux gate mag. by Carl Mooreland. I've noticed that when the volume is turned down almost all the way local radio stations can be heard (it seems the stations can change or double up over another station depending how the mag is turned). I contacted Carl who said this was strange and may be due to the mag demodulating a local station. Has anyone had this problem or can anyone explain why this might be happening. The only variation I did from Carls schematics is to use a shielded output wire that comes off the sensor output pin. The shielding was grounded to the ground on the board. This "shielding" was described in the material from Speake and Co. so I don't think this would affect anything. I could be wrong. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks. Shawn.

Re: Fluxgate Mag
Shawn,
Perhaps a 10-100pF condensator over powersupply will solve the problem.
Or a 10-100pF condensator between shield and signal wire.
This will "shortcircuit" the radio signal.
It looks like you have an "antenna" somewhere in your wiring that picks up the signal and a diode in one of the chips acts as demodulator.... so,you hear music.
I would also expect false readings...
Hope this will help.
Best regards, Jan
